“It starts off with a track i made recently, followed by a selection of tracks that I felt blended well together. My aim was to strike the right blend between continuity and variety. There’s some drone, field recordings, and contemporary classical material in there. It’s difficult to cover too much ground in an hour. My tracklist includes the times that each track was brought in and out of the mix; I thought this would be useful as there are a few long mixes in there.

Really enjoyed doing this, most of what I listen to these days is this sort of stuff. There are several tracks from the awesome netlabel Serein which can all be downloaded f.o.c from the website. That Loscil track is also available from the One netlabel. ”

A few words from the man himself:

¨When Scope asked me to do a podcast I wanted to do something different; not the usual 60 mins of mixed music.
I had the idea to do the first SC live podcast, an hour of live music – mistakes and all. The concept taken from “Later with Jools Holland”.

In the end it proved inpossible due to peoples schedules, so I decided to shelve that idea and produce a show, akin to that concept but pre-recorded. All the music is un-heard and you get my jibba jabba all over it to give you some history and pass out information on bands etc. Basically its my first radio show.

I Ioved doing it and hope that i will be able to do another one soon. It is littered with mistakes and I know ive got some of the information wrong….but well….hey….thats just me!

Thanks SO SO SO SO much to everyone who put in the tunes and helped me along the way – true friends.¨

“DnB follows the trajectory of post punk to a large degree. After an initial explosion of energy (hardcore / punk) aspiring musicians were freed from the fetters of musicianship and were inspired to explore new ideas, new ways (new forms?) of making music (dnb / post punk) – with amazing results. Eventually New Wave (as it was called back then) lost its impetus and ended up as the dregs of formulaic synth pop (what would that be in dnb terms?), but the original music still sounds fresh and exciting today (to me anyway). This podcast is a varied mix (unmixed) of some of my favourite post punk from 1977-82 (the equivalent of 1993-98 DnB). Hope you like some of it.”
