New dnb of the liquid and rolling kind from this Finnish act, first recommended by Code of Subtle Audio as an act that switched from making minimal dubstep. It's excellent up to track six on CD at least. Just released on Med School label. Really quite beautiful - check this out if you want to.

Going back on the Neu! after a few years...
Posted by: esb - 18th March 2018, 18:55 - Replies (4)

I've not actually put one of their albums on in a few years, which is really weird considering they are one of my favourite bands.  Listening to their first album makes me realize that this is still just as relevant, if not more so than ever before.  The loose jam and groove nature of this album is stellar and beyond it's years.

I'm hearing allot of this influence seeping back into modern electronic music which is really nice.  It's come full circle once again and seeing/hearing this jam/structured dichotomy is getting me really excited about where the sounds are going.

If you have not heard, do yourself a favour....  So much nice and even more feels!

Excellent 10 year mix on Pinecone Moonshine's bandcamp page. Plus: 60% off-sale of the full digital discography.

Too bad Nic doesn't visit SC anymore, either.

stars of the lid (sotl) - tippy's demise (fl remix)
Posted by: Muttley - 14th March 2018, 18:34 - Replies (3)

a little guitar remix wot I dun after recomposing it in four days practice solid on an epiphone Hendrix guitar.
anyone who would like to hear it in the public domain (purely private enjoyment at this stage), get in contact.
all the original chords, originally played by a synthetic orchestra, replaced with guitar fret finger positioning.
original comes from the timeless classic "and their refinement of the decline", by adam wiltzie and brian McBride, respectively, on the kranky label.

just thought i'd let a tumbleweed blow through my studio door again...

Brain activity can show what you were listening to
Posted by: widzhit - 9th March 2018, 07:53 - Replies (1)

Computer reads brain activity to find out the music each person is listening to

Quote:It may sound like sci-fi, but mind reading equipment are much closer to become a reality than most people can imagine. Researchers used a magnetic resonance machine to read participants' minds and find out what song they were listening to. The study contributes to improve the technique and pave the way to new research on reconstruction of auditory imagination, inner speech and to enhance brain-computer interfaces for communication with locked-in syndrome patients.
