"Sajanna" was a favourite when we had Chill FM in our DAB range. Used to take our radio to work and listen regularly. I remember sending them an entity approved 200+MB ZIP of SC related tracks in 07. No reply. Well good playlist though, introduced me to Ken Peel (Front & Follow), decent Moby, and had Bonobo on there with "Recurring" and the Pilote remix.

The Alpha Rhythm - Escape Velocity

Mixed that about an hour in. Afaik, Beatpick.com should still have Proof Of Concept for sale as Mp3s or Wavs for £4. I originally downloaded it from Vitaminic.com in 2003. First album I acquired online, and still one of my favourites. Triphop / post-rock / jazz fusion. IDJ mag's legal dl feature way back when was definitely helpful.

Not sure, I thought I recognised it before, maybe there is something like it, it's a tune though.

@Muttley, nope, don't know of front & follow, something new to check out though

Always happy to have a recommendation put my way - I'm guessing its in the same sort of vein (will check later)

bonobo has some lovely tunes though, will check that mix too, cheers

Todays tune courtesy of Nibbers's mix I've been listening to again - future bound - sorrow, lovely.

day is still early though Smile

The obvious comparison is "Destiny", but they have better tunes that weren't as heavily publicised. Like "This Fine Social Scene".

Peel & Leyland Kirby's contributions to the 4 CD box are worth the £25 alone.

It's varied: leftfield noise, downtempo electronics and haunted pianism.

Nice one. They're playing London again in April.

Sadly Rick (nrvnet) stopped The Hydrogen Cafe project in October. He made a 12-part plan for the series I was running, and the two sets he published are really good. Some things just run their course for different people, and I have great respect for all the sets he's done in the past.

Right, got ya - that post might have just cost me some money Lol

Will have a look later on as always keen to when I see new (to me) names in any music

I'm not one to be heavily into one thing so a lot of stuff passes me by, hard enough keeping tabs on artists I do know these days,

worth a look when I see a mention though, although my 'to check' list is getting bigger recently

true, some things run their course, best off looking at it in the way that you got 2 parts, and not that you are missing out on 10 of them

well that's how I like to look at things like that anyway Smile

That clannad is lovely, like their ambient/new agey stuff as much as the older folky root stuff

Tried to find Bela Lakatos - O Bijav on youtube to no avail, it's the best tune I've played so far today

I downloaded it from Amazon shortly after reading your post. It's nice. The closest comparative for me is Staff Benda Bilili. I know very little about music like this, so thanks for the recommendation.

Indeed, less is more most of the time - two keeper sets is better than overchoice.

The last time Bonobo guested a London club, which I really wanted to see: they had a 9-piece band, and Andreya Triana as vocalist. This one is a smaller setup, but I still hope to attend.

I think even if I was able to connect to Chill FM nowadays, I wouldn't tune in - it's very circular once familiar with the rotor, but great if you've got an office job and need to zone out for a while.

Never mind that its a classic song, check out the expressions on the singer.

Anyone that can have a world-selling record with that gob proves there's hope for anyone Grin

My favourite from Selected Ambient Works, and Aphex entirely.
