This is great! Grin You can start bangin out dub techno in no time Grin
-------

"The creation of chords and stabs remains one of the most frequently asked questions on music production forums. Specificly about those floating-around-your-head chords as heard in nowadays dubstep, dubtechno and related genres. The building blocks are actually quite basic stuff, nevertheless many people think way too complex. Let’s have a look.

This tutorial is made in Ableton Live and using most of its internal resources unless otherwise specified.
Ingredients

A basic polyphonic synth
Delay
Reverb
Chorus
EQ & Compressor

good to know how to do it for technical reasons if your learning synthesis but the last thing i want is to sound like ableton live

Dub Techno Chords & Stabs - A Little How To..... - HiddenSound - 16th November 2011

^^ Lol

exactly. yes, I don't mean use ableton's plugins for real... but this is a start. Replacing the live plugins with others one by one and comparing is illuminating Smile

nice webpage mate ... my tip : use nut chords for finding the "right" scales/chord progression you are after ... also there is a scale plug in ableton that is verry handy if you get your head arround it Wink

Dub Techno Chords & Stabs - A Little How To..... - HiddenSound - 20th January 2012

nice, thanks!

yeah there was a chord site inside of that link but it went offline.

Here's what i'm using now for scales and chords, its the same thing

the abe. operator synth has a fucking nice spectrum of timbre to offer ... I allways get dirty & funky subbasslines out of that little beast Smile
PWM like mod. is also possible by a minimum coast of CPU cicles. .... it's really a nice synth if you get your head arround FM synthesis Wink

There just fine/good with me I dont use any 3rth party plugs anymore since I switched to Ableton. It is just what you do with it and not the product itself in my opinion Smile

And indeed the operator synth is just one the best I used in ages, so many possiblilties with routing etc.. to create sound orginal textures and sounds.

Experiment is the key with this one Wink

^^ Yeah you are right about that. and a lot of dub techno sounding the same. will try Operator out Grin

I soak up the technical aspects of synthesis I love this stuff and experimenting Grin a new passion!
I'm really into using the free Synth1, it's bangin! very tuneable.
