It still blows me away that a dude from ODIOUS MORTEM posts on here, I know we talked about it over PM ages ago but my old housemate (Tipton) put out that second record you posted. I'm going to the Maryland Death fest in a week, so I'll probably see him there.

For really extreme crazy death metal stuff, here are two favorites which might be overlooked because they're after death metal's heyday, but before it really came back in full force... but they are absolute great listens IMHO.

Angelcorpse - The Inexorable: http://www.mediafire.com/?2q1btlmvzxk
This couples ridiculously fast good playing (that's NOT super triggered/fake sounding) with classic death metal style riffs and actual, CATCHY SONGS that can get stuck in your head.

Gorguts - Obscura: http://www.mediafire.com/?tzn0imtmcn7
This is the "comeback" album for Gorguts around 1998 that was super weird and awesome. May take a bit to get used to, but really interesting and inventive playing on this really far from typical death metal.

Do you have any link for Ghamorean?
I am posting in this thread...I need to get educated in some of this stuff. I always learn about so much good music on this forum that I otherwise would not have noticed. Xyxthumbs

Pete Helmkamp's earlier bands (pretty much everyone knows Revenge these days) are criminally underrated. Order From Chaos' first album "Stillbirth Machine" is one of my all time favorite death metal records, but it's pretty much the opposite of the band Macc has mastered: chaotic, muddy maelstrom of commanding vocals, fucked up riffs and oddball militant mid-tempo drumming. Most should be able to appreciate the excellent lyrics though, fusing Carl Sagan'esque celestial mysticism with Nietzsche's, GISM's and Discharge's visions (and Voivod's early cover art, heh) of a world of tyranny, eternal struggle, death and totalitarian control.

OFC's guitarist Chuck Keller wrote several of the songs, and after the breaking up of OFC his next short-lived project Vulpecula with its experimental, celestial death metal (nothing to do with black metal even if some uneducated journalists or bloggers claim otherwise) is also recommendable. The album holds an interesting cover of Peter Schilling's "Major Tom". The following band, Ares Kingdom on the other hand is terribly mediocre and total waste of time for anyone into decent deathrash.

Angelcorpse is pretty much all what Helmkamp had put in in OFC, but much more intense and extreme. Helmkamp's statements stirred some controversy in the scene and affected negatively on the band's reputation, and I'm pretty sure the increasing ideological differences between Helmkamp and Keller had an important role in OFC's demise. Helmkamp has never said that'd put ME off, but i can understand how the average PC wimp that listens to death metal would have a problem with some of that. Anyways, "Exterminate" and "The Inexorable" are excellent records, as a friend of mediocrely played primitive neanderthal death metal I'd say these are among the rare records where high speed and accurate musicianship actually serves a genuine purpose.

On the actual topic, I know pretty much no band like this Ghamorean or most of the other bands mentioned that I could personally recommend Hahaha Give these a try though

Classics:
At The Gates (first ep essential, two first full lengths okay, everything after that is total shit)
Autopsy !!!!!!!!
Suffocation (all up to second album)
Immolation (first two)
Atheist (again, first two albums. One of the very rare jazz/prog death metal bands I like)

Modern:
Repugnant
Mitochondrion (newer Canadian horde, the full-length is swarmed with ideas and potential)
Vomitor (you're gonna hate it, but an essential band nonetheless, haa)

ps. good call on Sadistik Exekution, very good band.

Bigup DevNull! Haven't heard from you in ages. Hope you're good man! Grin

Ya, its crazy, we actually just started playing the Odious stuff together again recently after almost a 3 year hiatus. Its just too much fun to play that shit with the homies all pounding beers and rocking the fuck out to fast, dissident, distorted music. Our drummer and lead guitarist were playing full time with Decrepit Birth for the last 3 yrs but they recently quit. Basically they're sick of touring all the time and making no money (actually losing money from their jobs while touring), so they're done with the whole professional death metal thing. It really doesn't work out unless you have a support system or are independently wealthy. Even bands like Suffocation don't make much money at all and they work soooooo hard and have such ruff personal lives being so detached, touring constantly. Trying to make a comfortable living off of quality death metal is like trying to make money from quality jungle these days, shit just doesn't work.

Anyway, its been awesome lately. We aren't taking shit as seriously as we used to which adds so much more fun to the equation. We don't have any desire to tour or push to release albums and/or get notoriety as we did when we were younger, Odious is back to the fun hobby it started as and things are looking good! We will probably do some local shows in the San Francisco Bay Area in a few months, playing with all different sounding experimental bands, (NOT JUST DEATH METAL BANDS). Also, if you see Tipton, let him know that he will get another album for Willowtip as in contract. All in due time for certain. Have fun at the Maryland fest mang! Wink

Oh also, for some epic older psychedelic doom/death metal, you must check out: http://www.myspace.com/disembowelment One of my all time favorites.

Ok, everybody into death metal should know this:

Cannibal Corpse - The Bleeding

Best death metal album of all times, imo. Technically brilliant, super fat production, and far better than everything they done before or after. Sounds almost like classical music with guitars...or im just crazy, hehe.

I also always liked Kataklysm, Sickening Gore and Brutal Truth, but im not really following the death metal scene anymore, i think when you are younger its more appealing.

I sometimes still listen to Napalm Death, best Grindcore band ever. Its like Death Metal, but without the embarrasing puppet theater stuff (satan, demons, skulls etc.)
Mind over Matter. Knowledge over Money. http://www.soundcloud.com/marvelcinema
one of my favorites!!

Forgot how seriously intense music can be. Dudes could really play as well, Ghamorean is the name of the band. Proper EIIIRUUUGHHHH business, but their harmonic sense really caught me, and at times - bizarrely - even reminded me of Slint.
