i have to say gwwwwwwaaaaaaaannnn the londoners. never felt vaguely proud to be british or anything like that, but i was yesterday.
walking for miles through london yesterday seeing people just getting on with it. some sad faces, but overall a feeling of 'fuck them, we'll just keep right on'
apparently at the royal free hospital (where laura works) a+e dept, near the edgware road bomb, they ran out of stitches and had to get more in from all over the hospital. madness.
i haven't spoken to my brother yet - he's a london ambulance service paramedic - i am sure he needs the rest. but i do know that he would have been flying down there and doing everything he could, just as the rest of the emergency services did. if i read richard fucking littlejohn cane the las once more, i am going to have to refer him to the frankly incredible efficiency and effectiveness of their operations yesterday. huge amounts of respect and admiration for all the 999 crew
i only smiled four times yesterday, and two of those were going past pubs that are normally very quiet at that time. both pubs were full to bursting, as in, people filling the entire street outside the pub, sounds of laughter as well as talk of how to get home, al qaieda (did i spell that right? oh hang on, fuck them) and so on.....
