I'm gonna split from you leftie fekkers.

i think the change of perception is the biggest and hardest impediment to overcome. it's so slow that sometimes it doesn't feel like it happening at all. but i think the thing you have to remember is that it does happen-much like naph said earlier, this board has been illuminating and inspirational, not merely for the fact that there are other tunes that are more where i'd like them to be but because there is an attitude of wanting the better the system and make the the system and the music work for us. that is a quantum leap in attitude for me-being on doa is amusing sometimes but it makes you feel like you're being shut off from the music world. you can't interact with the djs/producers let alone with the individuals that post on the board.

this has been a virtual salvation for me-there are people musically who care about the bigger picture and how we all fit into this. bleeding heart sentiments aside, this has changed my perception, and along with the perception has come a willingness to purposefully seek out stuff that i wouldn't have done otherwise.

now the perception amongst heads about sb is really the same thing. you have bailey playing your beats amongst others, you have a very successful chat board and you have quite a bit going for you. but you are fighting this perception that you are outsiders, and you know are outsiders. and if you courting the people who you want to buy your music in the scene (and ultimately want their ears), you have to fight this perception. aside from not really having the previous opportunity to buy your stuff, i was one of those people whom with sb didn't register-maybe because i didn't hear it, it wasn't available or because of the perception, but it didn't. but now it does, mainly because of this forum-same with pieter's music. i bought everything all the time yesterday, and i probably wouldn't have done that before, but i got turned onto that. i am malleable i suppose or perhaps i was ready for a shift in my musical life, but regardless, think my perception has changed a great deal. and this board has had a lot to do with it. and you guys have a lot to do with it, and i reckon i'm much like the regular record buyer in that sense.

perhaps there is more reacing out to be done on the sb end of things, doing things you don't want to do to get where you'd like to be. speaking from my personal experience, i find the meet and greet of it really drives me nuts-i am just not good at it. and like cl has said, the music world is a lonely place for one person. i'm a great dj-knowledge mag told me so-but i'll be damned if that has imporved my gig schedule! it's more than being good unfortunately, and i am tortured by that constantly.
