do you have homebrew channel yet?
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/setting_up_your_...r_homebrew
needs an sd card, card reader in pc, twilight princess
that bit is pretty straight forward
backup loader:
http://gbatemp.net/?act=module&module=bl...r=wiigator
depending on your firmware version (i had 3.3e, didnt work) the cios installer might not work (check the faq, you need backup launcher to say ios249 at the bottom).
i had to do the 'wii fix' section of the 'oct 23rd' sticky here to be able to use the cios installer that came with backup chan:

thats it.. no patching isos or anything needed even for import games
course this may completely bone your wii, make sure you follow the right instructions for your firmware version and stuff. also wii shop will probably stop working, and if you upgrade firmware homebrew/backup will probably
stop working.
you can still run some games that try and install firmware updates by loading them via geckoos (check wiibrew.org) and telling it to bypass them..
pretty sure you can undo all of this by just updating to the latest firmware, unless you break it completely. dont quote me on that.. i only did this cos i didn touch the wii in months and the only thing coming out any time soon i wanted was tvc which is was only released in japan! it works so i'm just gluing it in the drive and turning off the wiifi so i dont get updated
