i fucked about with some stuff, i did a "major morgan" to good results, also this toy that had animal noises - those kind of toys with low budget sample replay are easy to fuck about with, but they're a bit of a one-trick pony in terms of result if you know what i mean, glitchy retriggering of random sample memory..

also did an sk-60 but only did a couple of bends.

some of the stuff people do is amazing Smile

haha yeah cheap toys with only a few sounds are really just fun to make with out any repetitive production value.

here are a few things I've gotten done over the course of 7 months, as I said it has become kind of an obsession to say the least Lol

sega 555 timer tone generator

just finished this one The Shaq-FuZZ pedal (distortion)

bling blow turntable necklace

A furby just because I gotta earn my stripes lol

Made from scratch Atari Punk Console w/ photo resistor (tone generator)

the APC's board bottom side

Hellbox Nand/Gate synth. This is a project I'm still working on, started it after my first bend and have been distracted by learning more, but will be bad ass once it's done.

there are tons of resources, you should give it a go. Fry a few cheap toys and at least you'll get to hear that ONE really bad ass sound RIGHT before it's dead Lol

My first and unsuccessful entrance into the world of DIY electronics was when I made a distortion pedal... unfortunately when engaged it tuned in to radio mersyside... pretty impressive as I was living in east manchester at the time..

would love to get into it, but with 2 kids currently no free time...

I recently picked up some radio waves on this keyboard toy. I added a crappy amp kit circuit, and ran the power off of a watch battery, made some bad ass noises with faint sounds of the radio waves coming in, but after setting everything into place I could not reproduce the same affect. Ended up cutting the connections and am still working on finding what in the ell caused it.

Here are some good sites that have great information as well some awesome example videos / schematics

and don't feel discouraged ash one of my first kits is still sitting there useless until the problems are discovered... and it's frustrating to have this beauty just starting at you lifeless Lol

Nocto-Loco with just a clean guitar

Imagine running random sounds through it to resample

ooooooooooohhh... i just ordered a dronelab pcb! cheers for that Grin

actually i have tons of questions you might be able to answer Smile i have a vision of a box i want to be build for my daughter, but wouldnt know where to begin.. basically the 'guts' of this would be some kind of longwave radio, and it could sweep through the frequency range to create mad sounds, bolt on some kind of reverb/delay - instant spooky noise box!

i wondered, when you talk about adding crappy amp kit - it is like an off the shelf circuit or do you have to build it up from schematics, likewise i wonder if i could buy an off the shelf lw radio circuit, with hackability, or would i have to build one up from scratch?

cheers!

droooonelab!

can't wait to get one of those things! post how it turns out. :drools:

that box sounds like a cool idea, the barbie karaoke bends on casperelectronics can produce some weird stuff, as this video inspired me to pick one up on ebay. anxious of it's arrival.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5pJ4Ll26TI

the kit I picked up was a cheap 40db op-amp from the local shop. I was previously trying to breadboard a diode distortion schematic together and didn't realize after making it I couldn't just hook up a 9v battery to it lol. Basically the kit has a volume pot, an input, output, and power supply....when I started putting it into this toy piano's circuit, I just rigged a watch battery to it, and soldered what would be the pos. / neg. wires for the input and output jacks in various spots (keeping to pos. / neg. still).

The only way to describe the sounds it was making was the sound getting stuck in a voltage loop and ended up being a lot cooler than I expected haha.

When I do the post about the controller, I'll be sure to leave information for remaking one.

pretty simple, just a 555 tone generator making a square wave. i like the push button more than the switch (feels more like a controller).

nice stuff man! i bought a bunch of toys with the intention of doing this a few years back but never really made the time to pursue it. started a speak & spell but that's about it. just built a synth though, and would like to get some toys hooked up to MIDI at some point Grin
