buying one record reviewed in The Wire each month

all sorts of things really...

— if it's by someone I already know and like
— reference to stuff I already like
— a strongly positive assessment
— unusual instrumention or tuning
— if there's a woman involved
— if it's of historical interest
— random stuff

for instance, in the Size Matters section of The Wire #409, I've already noted to listen to (more than usual here):

Rudolf Eb.er — seen him
Valentina Magaletti — "ceramic sculpture in the shape of several drums"
Thurston Moore & John Wiese — seen both them
Noisepoetnobody — "struck prayer bowl sequences and clanging of many hues"
Onion Engine — "lopsided percussion" "maybe electronic in nature"
Secluded Bronte — "somewhere between avant garde musical theatre and Doggerel Bank"
Suburban Homes — "another great gasp of 1978 Small Wonder gas" (since I have quite a few SW records of that era)
