putting 5 of these on each track and 2 on the master channel really helps for depth i find

just to go back to an earlier point tho (read through and didnt see it mentioned)

do you lot add compression last or mix into compression?

and not just meaning do you have a comp on the master channel and mix into it. I mean on a per track basis..

so your eq is judged how it sounds through the compression rather than eqing > compressing > then maybe having to tweak the eq because its been effected by the compression

i generally have my drums and bass at -7 to start with (obviously may adjust a bit) then a group for everything else that i bring up in V accordingly.

i think it helps get a mix thats somewhere inbetween the way most dnb is mixed i.e 'drums bass loud, everything else bleh fuck it' vs say how more traditional mixing has all the musical elements of a track at the forefront

yeah. i do my little list as a spiral. sometimes i dont hear anything too bad so dont eq, move onto compression, hear some shoite freq, add reverb if needed, eq, see how the compression is then, more eq.
panning is really important to me, i hardly make things hard left and right, cos it leaves a hole in the middle of the stereo image.

dunno about the new ones, might be ok.

but from what i read the 'subscription' scheme they use is utterly ridiculous if you actually choose to buy them, especially considering its probably cheaper and much better sounding to just get a uad or something.

the old ones are a bit crap though imo

yeh this is something ive been working on a bit lately.

allthough i still like to move things a bit wider with automation on breakdowns, when i think you can get away with it a bit more and keeps things interesting

Don't go anywhere near the top in the first place Smile There's absolutely no need.

More here.
