it just is me or

IS IT JUST ME OR......

one of the best topics i have read about d+b for ages

but to me (a lurker ) i get the impression that you lok down your noses on your "average" d+b fan .....for the use of better wording "holyer than thou"

im 27 years old nearly 28 and i first came in contact with computer generated music i was 14 the first tune i bought was mr fingers..distant planet and then graduated on to the like of the ultramagnetic mç's, P.E etc etc
i have a lot of freinds who dj a lot of differnt styles of music from dub to electro to drum and bass and they all say the same thing that u are saying here.
my mate who plays dub/dancehall complains about shaun paul my mate who plays hip hop complains about 50 cent eminem
and just like them i will complain about the ammount of r+b bootlegs around

rember not everyone out there is as educated as u/me

why the scene is shite in the uk is cus every time u want to go out its allways andy c,hype, swift  how can they know thats the way it has been for years and thats the way it will stay . the average age of kids at raves no is 16-20....labeles like hardware,dsci4 slipping off ..big time but still selling shit loads of tunes.

fuck im stoned ill finish this some other time)it took me 2 hours to read all this thread

can i not be part of the gang if i go out and at the same time i buy the new paradox (shijuku) i buy the virus l.p

being that i'm down a lot of mixes (one sitting on my harddrive waiting to be burned now)-i'd be more than happy to contribute mixes. i got maaaad mixes out the ass!

my feeling is that there'll prolly be a main site & then some assoc. satellites floating around. bound to happen, innit?

So any suggestions on bridging the gaps, connecting the dots & accessing these markets?

i couldnt agree more with you mate. especially since i am one of those "exploited people" you speak of

Wink

i did enjoy the big amens and hoovers of the days past but had found myself really turned off to dnb in general. being that i am nearing thirty and not partying like i used to all the dance floor shit just sucked to me. Maybe if it was still being produced at a somewhat acceptable BPM i could get into it but most of what ive heard the last few years was rubbish.

anyways.... i mainly listen to "idm" type artists like boards of canada, four tet, jan jelinek, opiate, lackluster, etc. I still follow a few dnb artists like Pieter K, Paradox, Blame and a few others but really had not much information at all about any of the new labels or new tunes as reviews seemed far and few between

It's funny now going through my old reinforced wax and listening to all the old Sonar Circle, Paradox and Alpha Omega tunes. I doubt i even gave alot of them much of a listen at the time i bought them. I probobly just wanted more records in the crate like every other young DJ with some money burning a hole in his pocket.

I feel that because i am now older (and hopefully wiser) i have a need for something with more substance but still pure to the roots yaknow. I wouldnt be suprised if a majority of the people who use this board are in the same age bracket and have probobly listened to dnb for quite some time.

If we all stir up some noise around some of the electro and idm forums im sure many of those blokes would take to it quite alot.

sorry for rambling, as i am a bit high

Yeah it might come across as "holier than thou" but really I think that's because constructing arguments can be difficult enough without having to check every sentence to make sure you're not offending anyone, know what I mean?

Of course you can buy Paradox and Virus stuff and be part of the gang!!!

I don't care what people into "D&B" (in it's widest connotation) listen to as long as every style is represented and given space... that's definitely not the case at the moment and until it is we'll be making noise about it! It's all about variety and at the moment (though it claims to) the D&B dancefloors don't have it.

Well chaps three years later after the 1st post, I think it's clear this scene can safely be called "The SC scene" or "The SC sound".

I see this forum as a central focus point for all good music that emerged from dnb in purely natural reaction to the "clownshit".

I hereby declare "The SC scene" open, mature and healthy.

No need to market more cause it is still a niche, in a commercial point of view. Who cares? You can't make money in the present world without prostituting yourself, so one has to choose between a cheesy life and no conscience or a more simpler life with a conscience.

finally got round to finishing this...and god damn iv'e missed a lot Hahaha

big respects to everyone who made this discussion what it is, if it wasn't for such enthusiasm i might not have bothered so much with d&b as it is now, let alone been able to make an active participation in it.

here's to the future all Hugs Xyxthumbs
