Okay. i've figured out how to sample a sound and how to name it and place it and all that shite - but I can't get cubase to play that sample. There is Midi data going from the computer into the sampler when I draw a few bits into cubase (cos the midi-light lights up), but no sound coming out. If someone could briefly run through the process of getting a sample to trigger from Cubase I would be most thankfull. If it isn't something that can be explained briefly then say so and I will call Elmo tonight and get him to talk me through it.

Love to help but I'm too brain-dead. Blue's yer man here I think...
have you put the sample into a preset yet?
then put the preset into a midi channel in Multi-mode?
I'm pretty sure I've done that. doesn't a new sample automatically go into the first preset?
damn it's difficult to remember this shit when you're not sitting in front of the sampler. I'm getting broadband at home on saturday week... so maybe it'll make this sort of shit easier.

is the preset on the right midi channel? something that, after a few spliffs, still gets me today! lol!
maybe that's the problem. Anybody know of any tutorials on the net for this sort of thing? The sampler manual is fucking impenetrable as nothing is in a logical sequence - they assume you already know the order of doing things.

1.Create Preset (preset manage > name )
2.Put preset into multi mode channel 1
3.select sample in sample manage mode.
4.place > select key range > hit place
then your there!!
But theoretically if the preset is on the right channel, the midi track in Cubase is on the same channel - it should work right? there's no hidden extra thingys to do? If that's the case then I can figure it out - once I know all the variables it's simply a matter of trial and error.

I have to start from scratch everytime at the moment as my "SCSI" ZIP drive turned out to be a parallel port zip drive which is fucking useless..grrrrr. So I can't save anything unless i want to get busy with the floppy discs.
BTW: Thanks guys! :thumb:

...kinda discouraging, i just wanna stick to software if it's all gonna be that much trouble...
