I'm gonna split from you leftie fekkers.

I'm sick of seeing you lot on other forums dropping names like Offshore, Bassbin, Inperspective, Breakage, Paradox, Polska etc etc in rants about the cause and then not Streetbeats or Blue!!

Do i/we not fit in to your requirements of being a leftie or am i/we too radical?

you lot are left of field dnb and i am Radical dnb.

(this rant does not apply to Naphta)

sort it out you fekkers or i'm off.
M8 your psychedelic horse head is a bit blurry!
What is going on, and why you be so nice!
sad but true.

i dont even know if half the peopel here know anything about the history of streetbeats either.....

Personally, I didn't have much to go on until the CD arrived yesterday. I know that's my bad for not keeping my eyes peeled for your stuff in the shops and stuff. You'll be in forthcoming lists, fear not!
I know fuck all about the history of streetbeats and up until about a year ago (ish) i tended to dismiss the label (same goes for Inperspective)... this was basically down to ignorance on my part. Since then Streetbeats has released 1 record (which I bought) and I play it all the time now. I have hunted down your back catalogue as best I can and got 3 more tunes, including a very nice Source direct tune. I now know that you guys are responsible for releasing a lot of legendary producers stuff before any one else.

I agree that streetbeats doesn't get the recognition it deserves in these 'leftie' threads and I'm not entirely sure why that is.

I think, in fariness, there might be a bit of an identity - well, if not a 'problem', than a 'vacuum' with regards to SB and drum n bass... seems a bit odd now that we're here and getting on with you chaps and finding out that you all DO have a place in your hearts for the music, but... most people I know who didn't get out their shovel and dig deeper like me, think that Streetbeats is some sorta quirky industrial/jazz thing that doesn't really have anything to do with 'drum n bass' (no surprises there seeing as how narrow-minded the scene is) but more importantly, most of them seem to think that Streetbeats doesn't LIKE drum n bass, and that Streetbeats doesn't really WANT to have anything to do with drum n bass!

Basically, I think people see SB as a label and collective that isn't willing to play the game - not even as much as Bassbin, Inperspective, Offshore etc. (no disses to anyone concerned - I'm presuming y'all understand what I'm saying here..)

An image/marketing conundrum, as far as I can see... that, PLUS the fact that many of us have had such trouble getting hold of your music - especially in the last 2 years or so - and then even when we got it, it was aways on promo, so I for one certainly never knew what anything was or who was responsible for it!

One other point - unlike the other labels mentioned, I for one don't have ANY forthcoming music from ANY of your labels, so I'm hard pressed to mention tunes by title when talking about this shit... something which, I hope, you boys are about to rectify...! And more importantly - how much of your music does someone like Bailey have..?
that l be noir9 z-no - wretched and blue- animal

OK - but do you see what I'm getting at?

D'you remember when I first arrived here and all the SB possee went to great lengths to insist that y'all weren't part of the drum n bass scene? These things filter down y'know...

The first thing we're gonna do to address this is to put the back cat up online, with the offer of 'create your own cd'

Then anyone can listen and if they like, buy the music,

Previews of new releases will be online.

I also see ultra-Violet as a massive tool for us in overcoming the ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS STIGMA that we 'dont even like drum and bass'

PROPOSTEROUS !!!!
we just dont like RUBBISH SOULESS DNB or any other form of music...

JUST LIKE YOU GUYS

THe dnb scene is like one big game of chinese whispers.
Re:Naphtas points.

Youre a saint mate, i dont care that you dont anme drop tunesor anything like that, but YOU ALWAYS include us in your lists. Great!!
I am really starting to get the hump about this. How long have i committed myself to dnb? How long have i been producing? I have turned down offers to be Gq's "boy", Brian and Frosts new thing on "V" blah blah so i can remain independant and have my own thing. Why this makes SB an industrial/Jazz label is fucking beyond me. I have put out more records than hot dinners (certainly more than this new breed like Hive, Greg Packer, Keaton blah fucking blah) and i don't seem to get ANY props.
Is it any wonder i distance myself? Have i distanced SB or have people cornered us?
it really breaks my heart to know that people think i don't care about dnb. HA! what the fuck would they know.
We have struggled harder than most with little or no reward. We have a great distribution company on-side in the form of SRD and no fekking shops order our tunes. IT MAKES ME MAD.
Well you fuckers, i'm here to stay. Yes i make other forms of music (is it this that makes me an outsider you small minded fucks?), No i dont hate dnb (although 99.9% of music these days is rubbish!!).

rant almost over.

Any separation of us and the 'scene' was not our choice. We just carried on doing what we do = release honest music. (big up yo ches' Fatherblue)

I refer back to you point in the Doc Scott thread at dnba Mr Naphta. It was the mainstream that moved rightwards. We stayed on the same path. Its something we believe so strongly in, and we won't change that.
I understand where you're all coming from NOW, but it took me a while to really figure that out... and I was motivated enough to want to!

At the end of the day though, I think it may be down to the lack of info about current/forhcoming SB releases and tunes amongst the DJs out there (such as us!)... can't get a buzz going about a label or a collective without the product.........
i played ball once and it wasnt happening for me.

We are the Fugazi of dnb.

and when the name dj's simply wont play the tunes, or even respond to calls / emails most of the time, purely because there aint shit in it for them (read - they wont be as popular dj's in their eyes) then that pretty much sums it all up.

How the fuck does running 3 labels for god knows how many years, running a successful club night, forming a successful DnB based forum, making dnb videos that appear on mtv and forming a drum and bass band constitute me hating dnb??

FOOLS!!
