Murdoch also owns Sky TV, do you avert your eyes when you walk into a gaff that has Sk yinstalled?

yeah but that's definitely not motörhead's fault that his audience of today or the trendy-dandys who wear slim fit band shirts suck! Grin

Haha yeah, me too really. I feel pretty in touch still with the stuff I like though Smile Martsman and Sileni have both done some great mechanical sounding steppy stuff as well. Hooray!
Since we're on the topic of steppy tunes..that mad steppy 'metalrobot' tune on Offshore was bad!

I don't kn0ow the artist or title...I think it was by Graphic1000

the artist was graphic and the tune was called 1000

great tune, great ep!

The guy's name is graphic, he did a tune called 1000 on offshore, but I think the tune you're talking about is I Am Metal with beans? Dunno. All his tunes are cool and metallic sounding Grin

well i don't have a tv and i rarely hang out in the sort of places where i'm likely to have to watch one Smile

tyranny Wrote:he makes ridiculously heavy tunes in a tech itch kind of way - too noisy for me but i can definitely see why he has an audience... "scream war" has some pretty interesting drum work in it too...

it's not for me but it's certainly a lot more creative than 99% of the [non subvert] drum and bass out there...

when i first joined this board it was full of people bemoaning the fact that there was no rhythmic invention in drum and bass anymore and it had all turned into a sea of bland steppiness... nowadays it seems like a lot of people are just here to slap each others backs and fence off a corner of the scene for themselves; fair play to you all if thats the road you want to go down. personaly i think if this board and the subvert movement's incessant shouting over the last few years has achieved anything it has achieved the fact that people have woken up to the fact that proper breaks aren't just for chinstrokers or beatgeeks but are an essential part of our musics heritage and musical makeup - the hard work of a lot of the people on this board has made this the case. it seems a bit silly to then turn on a fledgling 18 year old producer who actually uses complex choppy rhythms because he puts them together with sounds you find distasteful.

just a thought!

well said tyranny Wink

well, rightly or wrongly, there's a generation of young dnb heads who got into dnb after being into slipknot and other kill-your-parents-and-your-classmates metal

UFO_over_easy Wrote:It's not as offensive as the stuff Tech Itch is churning out now. He's an incredibly talented producer, he's proved that loads of times... but his tunes now just sound tired and cynical. He must be pushing 40 or something too - like Motorhead playing to crowds of teenagers wearing black nail varnish and band hoodies.

AMEN BROTHER!!!!! played contents of thought last night - lovely tune! those trumpets!!! [if thats what they are]

Do you intend to make any squelchy technoid robotic steppy stuff Macc? That could be way cool Grin Spooked is quite steppy, and that's a nice one.
I've tried, but it just doesn't come out. Just isn't really in my nature Sarcastic I'm a 'natural' type, innit...

When I do try it always sounds false/forced/err, shit.

it's a worthy question, considering the terms you used to frame it's credibility.

if you'd just said : "wait till you hear "invasion", it's a great tune!", i doubt he would've asked.
And all because the lady loves Milktray Roll
