Livewax: Experimental Music, Media and Art @ Stealth, Nottingham.
Friday June 9th 2006. 8pm - 3am. ?5 Tickets thru Rock City Box Office. MOTD.

Livewax returns with its biggest helping of cutting edge multimedia yet. After March's legendary Wrong Music showcase, we've pulled out all the stops to make this one bigger, better, more challenging and more accessible. Our evening at Stealth brings with it an amazing sound system (the peerless FunktionOne) with which to enjoy the entertainment!

There are artists performing from many points of the creative spectrum: live electronic music and deconstruction by Tim Exile; a slamming, seamlessly woven AV show from Ultre and a showcase of Warp's hottest new unreleased tracks from DJ N>E>D.

Tim Exile's stock has been rising fast since the release of his debut album 'Pro Agonist', a breakthrough album crossing over between the stale drum & bass scene and the thriving electronica community. Tim is a dedicated programmer, building synths and effects in software to allow him to create hyper-edited music rich in complexity and heavy on groove.
It is in the live realm where Exile has now become a real pioneer, casting aside His specially constructed and programmed 'rave unit' is for most a techno fantasy, allowing Tim to completely improvise for live performance; sampling his voice, looping, mangling, beat boxing, dropping in drum machines, synths, multi channels etc etc. But this is no tech showcase, this is hardcore entertainment which has lead to the upcoming live album release on Planet Mu entitled: Tim Exile's Nuisance Gabaret Lounge.

Ultre produce AV mediascapes, abstract yet emotive and perpetually engaging the audience in new ways and from different perspectives. The seamless integration of the audio and visual aspects of their work heralds a new age in which the distinction between the musician and the visual artist become increasingly blurred.

DJ N>E>D is the man behind the massive Overkill events in London, and also the LittleBig artist agency. Its roster reads like a who's who of experimental electronic musicians. LittleBig's tent was the talk of the town at Glade last year ? come and find out what the fuss is about!

We've also gotten our fingers on the Nottingham pulse to present you 3 innovative local bands ready to unleash their experimental sound on the unsuspecting masses! Shirley Crabtree, Deny the Accident and the Holy Awesome will paint three rich tapestries of sound, ranging from quirky lo-fi charm to crushing towers of noise.

Deny the Accident are a 5 piece band stealing influences and samples from just about any possible source and mashing them together with a plethora of effects to create a sometimes melodic and often frantic orgy of noise. Hot Diggity!

The Holy Awesome revolves around the idea of looping beautiful gameboy music and playing bombastic drums at the same time with a second pair of hands. http://www.myspace.com/theholyawesome

Shirley Crabtree is essentially grinding psychedelic darkness. A combination of brutal blast beats, dirty grinding guitar parts, disgustingly raw and un-nerving vocals and a trumpet that sounds like it's possesed by Mayhem! Snuff isn't always romantic...!

We will be having an interactive sound installation "Splosh" from Sam Salem, exploring the use of water as a medium for making and manipulating music ? with some bespoke programming and clever use of the VIP Room! This is the most innovative use of a 'fishtank' you'll have ever seen! This work is about the role of the artist and composer as instigator, the relationship between artist, art and audience, and how this relationship is mediated through technology. This work is also about experience, memory and play. Most importantly, this work is about fun.

As ever, missaw will be on hand to weave a chamaeleon's blend of lush textural soundscapes and no-holds-barred ravecore and Robotfridge will be supplying the ocular oddness.

Upstairs sees the launch of Tokyo Deep Live, a showcase of live dance music bands throughout the night.[/p]

The doors open at 8pm, the bands will be playing between 9 and 11 and the electronic acts start at midnight. There'll be a BBQ outside Stealth to give us the energy we need to keep going, so there's no excuse! Come out before dinner?

You have been warned?we'll see you down the front!
