MATTI WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!? Hahaha
Individual Thought Patterns is pretty sick....

i also like all of the early Death shit before it became intellectual (which was still cool though)... Scream Bloody Gore + Leprosy... classic shit!! bummer that he died.
he died? cancer wasn't it?

i preffered obituary myself

i can't listen to obituary now, i just laugh too hard! i used to like em back in the early 90s though...

the bloke from Obituary sounds like he's trying to clear his throat and failing...

for what people would consider "vintage" Obituary, just buy "Slowly We Rot" and "Cause of Death"... after that, the evolution is too slow for me and it sounds the same (they started getting "groovy" too which sounded awful).

i think the reason people snicker at them (well, at least the reason *I* do and some death metal kids i know) is because they're so stagnant and repetetive and cheesy and never really progressed in any remarkable shape or form... just imagine the simplest, most dunderheaded junior high Celtic Frost worship riffs with those goddamn vocals (you have to hear them to understand)... album after album "dun dun dun dun DUUUN!! dun dun dun dun DUUN DUUN!!".. "hhheeeeooowwwwwww.... ehhhrrRRROTTTING!!!.... eeeeehhhhhhyyyeDEEEAAATTTH!!"...

dunno, i guess tons of people still worship that shit... check it out for yourself though!

looking at where Chuck Shuldiner took his music vs. where Obituary took theirs is like reading a Phd thesis and then reading a junior high report on an R.L. Stine book... i'm aware that not every band is obligated to evolve leaps and bounds but i like it like that so...

anyway.
They are about as cheesey as Sinister or Helloween but in a different way..

chuck was one of the most emotive guitarists. gene hogland still is the best metal drummer in the world. no doubt.

individual thought patterns is by far their best moment. after that they got a bit prog death metal pink floydish.

still good tho.

weird to see this thread as i have been listening to human and individual thought patterns on repeat in my discman for the last week.,..
metal?
bliax...bliax...bliax!
