hmmm, maybe later at some point, i cant code C++ which is what is ideally needed. If someone else wants to do this (or if i can find someone else) then maybe as all they will have to do is port (translate) my code from the world of windows to osx.. the sound lib (fmod) is cross platform so it might not be too hard. I will investigate if a straight port is possible using mono, a cross platform implementation of C# (that i am writing lambchop in).
we shall see eh Smile
gwarn dude

cant really offer any help or even suggestions but encouragement

cheers

hmmm, now all i need is to do some anti-aliasing otherwise it ends up looking like a heap of poop.
Anyone know any good book with theory etc on this? Im finding it difficult to research on teh web
some background theory here:

right, so whos a maths boffin!? this is far too complicated for me Lol, oh dear, what have i let myself in for?
just a wee update for yas although its not that exciting and theres nothing for y'all to play with yet.
So far i have zooming out to view the whole wave sussed and sorted, along with a simple anti-aliasing routine to make it look decent, I have also partly got horizontal scrolling sorted except for some strange behaviour in the C# scrollbar (although i just researched this and got the answer).
Next i need to sort out zooming in but this should not take me too long I hope.
I know this doesnt sound like much but it means i pretty much have the basics down and can start working on the slicing part of things very soon Hyper then you can have somthing to play with!

forgot i was gonna put some detail about the AA as its really very simple.
I take a group of samples in multiples of 2, so 2,4,6...n, this is the 'zoom out level' then loop through them to find the 2 samples with the highest and lowest values which the get plotted. the higher n is then the further zoomed out the image is. its a bit crude but seems to werk pretty well Smile

OMG ZOOM AND SCROLL!!1!!11!

ive attached the zip with the program in for anyone that wants a lookie.
You need to have the dotnet runtime installed then:
extract to a folder, run the exe and load the wav file or any other 44k, 16bit mono wav.
The top slider zooms out, the bottom scrolls.

Admitidly i need to sort zooming in more.. but im still chuffed to bits!
ps, its super sketchy still, so dont be suprised if it bombs out if you do somthing odd or somthing i havnt expected.

Please post any bugs you find incase its somthing i havnt seen Smile
(and yes, it does draw a funny line when maximised and zoomed right out)
looking good man Smile

Im gonna try and have a bit of a code tidy/rewrite of some parts at the weekend though Grin
What is this dotnetruntime you speak of? Is it something that might be installed already? Baffled
