Macc Wrote:ZNoise beats XNoise hands down Smile

But Voxengo Redunoise beats them both - if you have 80 years to learn how to use it.

Has Redunoise's CPU hogging ability been worked on at all? I tried using it a few times on my older comp (which is still pretty fast), and it was SLOW... Although I was using it in a project. Might have to just use it on its own project to make it a smooth process.

I'll check ZNoise Smile
use it by itself/offline or whatever Yes

i can't imagine why you'd have to have noise reduction running real-time Baffled . unless you're creating noise in your sequencer... in which case, why bother creating it in the first place? Lol Lol Lol

nah, in short it's a cpu muncher not cos it is inefficient, but because it's an absolute monster processor doing a whole load of shit. which is, in turn, why it sounds better than z-noise etc.

Waves SSL EQ is one thing... REQ is something else Lol

I still batter RComp though - they did well with that one...

waves eqs - all waves eqs.

what is Waves 10-band parametric equalizer then?
if you mean the q-10, it's capable, but extremely digital sounding with some phase issues.

boosting with q10 No

no disrespect, but if you can't hear the difference between the waves ssl/req/q10 then you need to do some ear training.

Whatever mate. Roll Use whatever you like - it's got 10 bands, so it must be better, right?

so i have to write back. ok
eq's problems with phase ar something completely unimportant for me. i dont use much phasers, so the "phase issues" are not something i have to deal with every hour. i dont use it because its not something i feel its neccessary, and for me phasers are something that sounds extremely digital and i dont want it on my drumloops. i am also a pure-beats-maniac, and i like it when amen is panned a little bit to the right, when there are some whisses in misc loops and the shit about unregular thinkaboutit shakers. its the loop vibe, that not everyone is able to feel.

There's not really anything I can say here. This speaks for itself.

Your lack of any knowledge of any semblance of theory leads to one of the most off-target and poorly informed comments I've seen on this forum.

With all due respect, and regardless of whether you care about this stuff or not, the above comment shows that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Phase issues in eq and phaser fx are two completely different things (albeit manifestations of the same fundamental physical phenomenon). I'd be happy to explain all this, but frankly you seem to know everything you want to know already.

By the way, you've never used an analogue phaser then?

It's a wonder you don't fall over, patting yourself on the back so hard. I am sure you have a bright future as a producer, as obviously you can feel things so many of us mortals cannot. I wish you luck, although evidently you don't need it.

Listen man, I'm only here to help. The reasons I post on this forum are

a) because I really enjoy the subject matter, and

b) maybe I can help people out. I don't think anyone who comes here regularly would doubt that I try to help whenever I can.

I don't want to cause offense. But don't give me the Yawn and the Roll when I try to point out that maybe you could use a better unit.

x crackle's pretty good, i like xnoise for hiss and background noise but if you go a little heavy on it i start to hear weird boxiness and an almost mp3 kind of noise, i'm guessing it removes bands of frequency information based on the "learn" key kind of how an mp3 tries to leave as much information there while removing what it can? haven't figured out it's best application yet but knowing me i may be abusing it... Teef

(i think) i love the weird boxiness you speak of Smile. does it sound like "glittering bits" ? i have some botched mixes where i didn't pay attention to compression and added tons of effects + processed eq'ing (at least 3-4 times) that have that sound to them. i think those mixes were converted to .wav > mp3 > wav >mp3 in dunken confusion.there's definitely a certian point where you should stop trying to save a mix :lol". plus, the plugin i was using is waay old.

Macc Wrote:I love Enigma Grin Metaflanger too.

The eq's are ruuuubbish though, bar the SSL eq.

WRONG!

Reading a few articles on mastering engineers & just engineers in general & a lot of them use the waves eq's extensively.

Threw me for six because, like you, I think they're crap (Except for SSL)
