Simple gain box

Alright chaps Smile

So I need some pointing in the right direction. Often at gigs I need to sort out a secondary mixer, literally so that I can get my headphones loud enough to compete with the club sound system. Then I can run my feed into that, plug my cans in, and have a volume knob handy in case I need to adjust it during the gig.

Of course, I could buy a little mixer, but it's more weight, especially with the power supply etc etc - and I am already lugging half a drum kit and a laptop (as well as clothes etc etc usually).

Basically all I need is the smallest possible box with a volume knob, preferably with 'unlimited' headroom - a distortion pedal is one option, but my cans can distort when they are up that loud too, so the cleaner the signal into the cans, the better..

So yeah, line in > gain > line out. That's it. Anything commercially availble that anyone knows of?

I coulda built one if I'd wanted to. Sure I could. But I'm a busy man, so I bought one instead, from a guy called Brandon.

A kid called Brandon, actually; he's still in high school. But the enterprising lad builds a perfectly good little amp, and sells the things on eBay.
Yeah, he didn't have anything to sell when I clicked the link Neutral

Anyone know of anything pretty much exactly like that (battery!) that is available?

Hahaha

Sorry... but Hahaha It's the actual physical leakage of stuff through the cans at extreme volume that they have to compete with, and noise cancelling or not I am extremely skeptical of their ability to block out a massive PA at 5-10 yards behind a blaring drum kit Hahaha

No offense Bob Grin

although you'll probably still need more gain...
Read my post about 6 up from here Smile

What I need is proper in-ear monitors, earplugs with earphones built in, so it is just like having a walkman on. I saw Lamb and the drummer had just what I am after.

I suppose I should just fork out Neutral

Off-Topic,...Macc you worried about fucking your ears, as you play drums and produce on headphones?
I monitor at sensible levels (often I'll make a tune with my EMu output down at -12dB), and use earplugs when I am drumming - standard.
