right im getting to the stage where im gonna have to find someone with a rhodes mkII OR SOMTHING BECAUSE THESE VIRTUAL PLUGS SOUND SHITE compared, I have recorded 20 mins of rhodes off the real thing but they are in audio, does anyone who knows what a real one sounds like have any recommendations on plugs , lounge lizard 1, 2 & 3 don't do the job right, on anything lower than c3. and its doing me in Hahaha

the bass end on the real thing sounds thick and weighty but in ll it sounds pap

I wish i knew what a rhodes was in the 80's when people were giving them away to buy a dx7 Hahaha

Hahaha Hahaha Hahaha

What about sample-based ones? NI Elektrik Piano, Scarbee dirty rhodes or summink is meant to be the dog's n all...

Best typical VST I know is Mr Ray through an amp sim...

Lounge Lizard sounds like Lounge Lizard - very hard to get it sounding like a Rhodes...

Special mention for mda epiano too - has its uses...

wise words. Grin

i could track my rhodes in the lower register for you......just long tones or whatever, but i'm REAALLY tight on time right now, so if it's not of the utmost importance, you'll have to wait a bit....
pop it in the post to me and i'll do it Bigstick

nice hat sounds cool, no rush as i have sampled lots myself but stupidly i recorded chords so i might get about 6 tracks worth, when u sample could you multisample each key at 127 different velocitys and then the same with the tone controls at again 127 different settings that would be grand thanks Teef

seriously yeh that would be great when u get time Xyxthumbs
word DSP.

you can start bugging me about it starting in may.....i'll be right swamped until then.
i almost bought a rhodes mkII '73 yesterday, but it went for too much in the end, 570 sheets.......it was affordable until about 2 mins before the auction ended. :/

man thats cheap my mate has the mk1, mk2 & solina + various other bad boy things, he paid over a grand each, well i think the mk1 was £800

plus his in manchester so sampling soon its a bit of a mare
yeh relatively but if the coin aint in your pocket what can you do?
i got my mkII 73 for about £480. it's not 100% though.

no sus pedal, and it could use a re-padding to improve the action.

I look at it like this.....i'm not a 'vintage car guy'. i'm a vintage gear guy.....i'll just keep tinkering with it until it's back in tip top. Smile
first time i used one i was like "shit it makes noise with out even being plugged in" Lol i really though it was electronicly generated not mechanical, better ampped up though, dodz a non perfect one has more charicter , as long as all the keys work Smile
Try the EVP88 in Logic......sounds good to me.....not sure about the fat low notes tho....

Maybe you could sample a real one and layer it up with the best VST you can find.

i don't use logic as on pc , but yeh have heard its alright. funny though the free epiano macc mentioned its actually alright for some bits, the bass end is prob so hard to recreate that only samples will really do , there would be some serious maths to get it sound real by the looks of ot
i have evp88 as a vst, if ya want.
EVP73 was always very good, but had tuning issues as I remember. Same as 88 I think Smile
