we had a modem and phone blown up by a lightning strike
so we got a surge protector

all the same, it doesn't prevent lightning from blipping the power supply
just half a second is enough to turn the computer off

Grumble

Use hardware, not software.

I think there's an interview with him from the 90s in an old mag where he lists his studio gear. I'll try and find it.

not that fecking chestnut again. Roll

although indirectly you may be kinda right, as wupert's mastering engineer was the chap which made it all sound so very spanglywang. according to wupert anyway.

What do you mean "that old chestnut"?

I'm saying Photek used hardware so Dinn my not be getting anywhere because he's using software. That's just a simple logical statement. Baffled

Logical maybe, but also beside the point.

Of course one is able to achieve VERY similar results by using software only. The used equipment is possibly be the icing on the cake, but today the difference is marginal.

Saying 'use hardware' as about as helpful as saying 'smear dairylea over your face' though.

There's ohhh, I dunno, I'll guess here... a squertuberbillion different possible bits and combinations of kit he could have been using. There are - these days - a great many plugins that are better than hardware. To pull two names out of the hat, UAD Neve 33609 vs Behringer Composer.

So KIT LIST OR STFU Smile

remixmag Wrote:Parkes' studio includes Apple Logic Pro, a Diezel guitar amp, a bunch of guitars, Native Instruments soft synths, TC Electronic plug-ins and an E-mu EmulatorX desktop sampling system. "I sometimes compare a good studio tool to an AK-47," Parkes says. "It should be simple to use; easy to get ammo for anywhere in the world—that is, compatible; and even if you treat it rough, it should always go bang when you pull the trigger."
