currently up to IRCD22 YMCA, London
TG are playing individual "songs" and the audience claps politely at the end of each one. It sounds really weird. ![]()

Finally coming to the end of TG24. As the CDs get later (i.e. 1979-80) they get less and less interesting. TG now play "songs" with little spontaneity; Porridge shouts and postures; the lyrics are 'meaningful' (i.e. meaningless); the tapes are derivative and obvious; the relationship between performer and audience is politely appreciative rather than confrontational. Basically TG have turned into a rock band. It's not surprising they packed in the following year.

this week, i'm kinda obsessed. its the thought process that intrigues me. thee extreme alternate reality.
the creation of your own universe, completely your own reason / sense of being, etc. etc. its a freak show for sure, i guess that's what is so alluring about it.

currently going through TG24 again
most of the early CDs are good, especially: disk 5: Live at Nuffield Theatre, Southampton, 7th May 1977 disk 11: Live at the Architectural Association, London, 3rd March 1978 and in the second half: disk 15 - Live at Cryptic One Club, London, 11th Nov 1978 but now I'm up to disk 19 and they're just going through the motions, being Throbbing Gristle the "rock band", playing the "songs", a vehicle for Porridge as "rock star" – all quite boring really ![]()

Actually disk 20 – Live at the Guild Hall, Northampton, 26th May 1979 – is quite good too. Probably because Porridge is lower down in the mix.
9th August 2014, 09:31
now up to disk 22 - Live at Butlers Wharf London, 23rd Dec 1979 - and they've started to prat about with trumpets

disk 23 - Live at Fan Club, Leeds, 24th Feb 1980
Cosey & Chris are doing a sex talk routine and some guy has just shouted "boring!" too fucking right ![]() ![]()

as played at the end of the February 2015 lecture recording ^^.. from the new PTV3 lp, and the NIN remix. there's a quick bit about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs remix too. overall, not bad for a 2hr lecture.
