Burial "Untrue"

Didn't think you were rude Smile good question.
Could you name some bits you're thinking of, out of interest?
Sure i could (i have the CD walkman beside me) but i'm not going to sit here and rip into someones album.

There is no wrong, there is no right. Just opinions.

PS i just want to clarify, i really like the album Hahaha

nah crap question lol Oops

i got to stop smoking so much Neutral
It's not ripping into it. I'm just really curious to have an example.

i typed out a long reply then got distracted and came back and realised it was waffle..

but a lot of the vocals are out of tune (it's not that bad though, there is normally something else there to resolve it).. one at the start of ghost hardware sticks out from memory..

and a lot of the beats/engineering are pretty rough around the edges (but that helps gives it character as dionysus was saying) good quote from the man himself "i don't need some studio boy to tell me my snares are too loud" Lol
Somethings just don't "sit". Don't really want to say more than that because i don't think anything positive can come out of me talking about it on a public forum.

But fuuck man, i love the album. The bits i think don't "sit" could be works of genius way over my head; he has 2 albums, i have none.

Yes
Fair enough if you don't want to say I guess. You got me curious and left me hanging there tough damn you! Wink

I love the album too, and as you basically said, they're not strictly speaking 'mistakes', but something like rough round the edges aspects to the tunes, because that's the way he makes them.

I don't think your comments would be taken the wrong way if you did say.
only just got this (had the ghost hardware single for ages thou) and i love this album almost as much (if not a teeny bit more) that the last one.

oh and i really like the vocal's but i guess i belong to the garage 'generation' going to secondary school in crawley during the 90's ment i had to like garage (or get the stuffing kicked out of me evryday Oops ) so yeah i like what he did with the vocals and the pure atmospheric tracks are beautiful.

all in all i think it a beautiful album and the whole fact that it is a little 'rough around the edges' make's it appeal to me even more.

me also thinks the vocals thing depends on with what do you associate the high-n-low pitched vocals; i like it because it really reminds me the jungle and the way the vocals were done.

i know that it musnt be the way burial wanted me to think about it, but hey - thats the beauty of music; everybody listens to something different even if the same song is played.

Actually burial state s in an interview he was always into the vocals on jungle, and thats what he was influenced by alot and wanted to make, i think he said someting like well i lack in drum production so i kinda cover it up with vocals. But he is way influenced by a guy called gerald,,, if you listen to that the beganing of Energy by A Guy called you can really hear that.

i'm obsessed with that track! its stupid, cheesy, has bad vocals, wobbly bass, ACE! more please - is there lots of that sound around?
Oh yeah. Do a search for 'UK bassline' or 'bassline house' or just 'bassline' on Youtube.
i'm lost on tons of UK genres. bassline. funky (worse genre name ever?). niche!?!
