if i had to guess i'd say a square wave with a filter sweeping up, but a bandpass filter rather than an lp so it has that kind of hollow sound as it goes up

and maybe more than one square detuned

this could be utter balls mind
Definitely one or two square waves, no detuning I think, with an envelope attached to the filter. Set a high attack on the envelope and play with the cutoff and resonance accordingly.

Might give it a go later today.
dred bAss is just a reversed distorted 303 stab , i have the samples from a 1993 future music sample cd , the same cd valley of the shadows and millions of other tunes were made from,

Its that simple, it can be synthesised but samples are more authentic as the speed change at different pitches
so in this case you need a square wave with a 3-pole Lowpass filter with resonance..

if you want it to be really authentic resample the sound. or make your keynotes alter the envelope speed (and filter cutoff respectively)

0=0

p.s. i think the first time i really heard a sound like that used in a hardcore context was on a production house record...and i think rugged vinyl for dnb.

I gave it a try. The root key is A0.
It's extremely basic FM synthesis - there's literally only 1 modulator & 1 carrier. Can't remember the exact ratios though. The original was done on a Yamaha DX7.

Luckily I can't add to the lack of consensus cos I have no clue Hahaha

I think this question really depends on what someone is going to use to make it. You can probably make a bassline like that a few different ways.

Somebody should take a screenshot of :29-:31 in a wave editor and post it in the thread. It would
make things a lot easier.

Not as easy as sampling it though.

far too lazy for all that Lol

it's similar enough to the bass in the Blinded By Science tune (similar to the The Physical now that I think about it)
halfway through applying my mad GIMP/MSPaint skills I realized the sound is backwards, so i flipped the image horizontally.

here's the sound (from Blinded By Science - Only You) played reversed, then forward.

sounds like a distorted kick drum.
it's probably a distorted 808/909 kick sampled & reversed.

you could try programming a kick drum patch w/ a triangle or sawtooth @ 16' or 32', pulse width about 1/2 way up, a little bit of res, cutoff @ 3-4/10 or so & EG Depth at max, & a kick drum env, hit the 4th or 5th keys in the 1st octave, Tinker with the OSC MOD & filter key settings until it sounds like a mix of a tuba + kick drum, then reverse.

but whether they programmed the kick on a synthesizer or not, they definitely used a sampler, so why not just sample it?
Lol

I thought it was a reversed sine wav? I'm sure that's what I read.
