Hehehe, I wasn't caning the Behringer mate, or suggesting anything... just that the rack looks lonely Grin I weren't hankering for business either... but yeah, do send things over Teef

hovver Wrote:hi tyler, not sure whether to drool over the desktop pic or the liquid mix Smile

also not a guitar-head by any means, but is that a gibson les paul gold top?? looks like one to my recollection, and if it is, even my stupid-arse knows how desirable they are.....

nice looking beast whatever mate

it does look just like one Smile its an epiphone les paul studio. i think theyre endorsed by gibson but its not quite the real thing

still Lovesmilie
haha didn't think you were hankering/blagging for a second mate, the rack is a bit empty - personally can't wait til i get to the point where i can justify getting something mastered again, really missing that feeling of putting an end to a track, instead of just looping an idea around...

anyway, i digress.

more pics please!!

or else that's one mofo of a guitar! Hahaha
they look normal sized to me

maybe i'm much bigger than you guys?
Macbook Pro 2.2 GHz
Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1
Nord Rack 2x (not shown, will update pic soon)
PMC TB2 monitors (in need of stands and better amp)
Focusrite Liquid Mix
Sennheiser HD 650 headphones (also in need of better amp)
Novation ReMote 25SL
Roland PC300 keyboard
Stanton Uberstand (not shown)
Desk from Ikea, $55
Kitchen rack from Howard's Storage World, $10
nice... my original intention when i recently bought my mac was to pair it up with a liquid mix and a novation remote but funds haven't allowed so far -

would you recommend the novation? i do odd bits with a live band and would love something that's really intuitive to use when controlling plugs/tracks etc. just wondered if any of the 'automap' hype is justified?

many thanks mate, maff
nice to see a few people rocking the pmc's

pmc's are my fav monitor speakers, i just wish i could afford a bryston to go with...
The Novation is great. The keys just feel really good to play.

I haven't tried out Automap in anything besides Ableton Live as of yet. Most of my other software is a couple versions too old (or too new, in Logic's case) and thus not compatible. But from reading the manual, the way they've done Automap for Cubase and so forth looks fairly sensible.

I don't really like the automap for Live though. It leaves too much up to MIDI Learn, which I've never liked. I'd rather the controller be the brain. Sure, you can save a template song but any time you add a new channel you have to assign the commands for it yourself. Admittedly the plug-in automap for Live is clever but I hardly seem to use it. Maybe that'll change when I start actually using it live (one of these bloody days).

oooh elektrovert a3000 or a5000? love the waldorf xt too!
and i had several panic attacks setting up ONE patchbay?? Oops

haha
cheers guys,

the right rack has:

novation drum station
novation a station
novation supernova
yamaha a3000
waldorf microwave xt

the left rack has:

behringer bass v-amp pro
line 6 pod pro
behringer composer processor
behringer quad gate
5 patch bays
motu midi express xt
alesis masterlink cd burner/processor
focusrite platinum mixmaster.

the supernova is a great synth, so powerful i'm really getting deep into it at the moment, as with most synths, it sounds way better once you get into programming it yourself.

the microwave xt is fairly new for me, only got it a couple of months ago, it's a nice addition though, sounds completely different to everything else, very metallic/industrial.
haven't really got stuck into it yet.

setting up the patchbays was a fcuking nightmare!

when we were putting the quad gate into the rack we "bumped" into the switches on top of one of the patch bays and switched a load of channels to parrallel, nearly gave me heart failure when we booted everything up and the first 6 channels on the desk didn't seem to be working.
the signal was getting into the gain stage, but not to the mix bus, coz the patchbay was on the insert points.
we thought the desk had packed in. No

we got it sorted in the end though. :d
again, nice set up man. i always liked the distortion in the supernova Xyxthumbs

how's the mixmaster? wouldn't mind trying one out...

yea i met you when i bought yours of you, way back when!
Macc Wrote:How's the mixmaster? Wouldn't mind trying one out...

I really like it. been using it for ages now.
we got the rack units and patch bays last september, we also got the expansion card for the mixmaster (with digital outputs to the Alesis), and recabled the whole place.
Since then I seem to have lost the knack of using it.
I don't know if it's the digital card or the whole new set up or both, but lately I seem to be squashing the hell out of everything.
I'm gonna have to re-learn how to use it, but on the old setup it was indespensible to me, I would be lost without it.
