Noice!
something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-Midisport-...B00007JRBM

if your soundcard doesn't support MIDI.

Otherwise just a couple of MIDI leads.
Would've offered you my E64, but I turned it on on Friday night and run some bass through it. That little fucker is staying in my setup.
id much rather you kept it anyway man and put it to good use Smile

theres plenty going for decent prices on ebay anyway Wink

and yeh, sods law, pretty much figuired out the midi thing about 5 seconds after posting after having a google Hahaha

cheers tho Smile
I'd try and get yourself an E6400 at least though. E64 is a little sloooooow in operation. Culture shock from using software.

Piece of piss to use. Never thought that when I first got it but now I'm used to so many music packages it's second nature. Just need to master the fact that you edit the sample for looping, gain, etc. To add filters you add that sample to a voice (and layer other samples if you want) and add you filters, amp envelopes etc.
get an ultra if you can, you get the z plane filters then!
Not that you'll ever properly suss out how to use em Teef

gonna see if i can pick up an e synth ultra, from what i can tell has the same sampler spec as an e5000(?) but with the synth aswell, so even if the synths shit i can still use the sampler
make sure you can get a copy of the manual.
the most important features on my akai are not accessed intutively.

oh, and make sure you can save in .wav format....
my akai sampler came out in 1999 and by default saves files as .snd unless specified elsewise

totally pisses me off when I go to edit a file only to find I saved it as a .snd instead of .wav.

i have no idea about using hardware sampler.

to connect an emu sampler f.e. with my pc/daw do i only need a midi port?
If you just want to trigger samples from within the sampler, yes just a MIDI cable. 2 of them if you want to transfer data to and from it.
that`s great news.

yes, i would modulate samples and send them in and out of the sampler, so two midi cables.cool.
