Advice from the M.E.s

Now obviously we all know we should be sending you guys the perfect mix!

But! Just for example, say if there was the option of the mix being a little too thick or a bit too thin. What tends to come out better from your end?

I feel I've got this nasty habit of panic EQ'ing at the last minute on things (and I'm really starting to think I should trust my balls more, always trust the balls lol). Is it more effective adding highs/cutting lows or the other way round.

Anyway, thoughts?

I feel like I'm driving myself a bit nuts at the mo.....
something I tend to do when I am going insane.. stop..

leave it overnight if it sounds good to you in the morning send it off Smile

This implies you know where 'right' is. Why not put it there?

Well that would be the most obvious thing to do. Lol

To be honest, I thought things were OK till I did a gig at the weekend, I rarely DJ (or go to clubs) these days so I don't get to hear things on big systems, just in the studio and a selection of shitty hifis.

I feel the two main issues are room anomalies and not trusting my instincts enough.

Anyway, I'm taking Tza's advice and calling it a day!!

Cheers for the feedback peeps.
It'll be grand Xyxthumbs

Did it sound good in the morning ?
Dunno yet, just woke up! I have several cups of coffee to deal with first.
Matt, having mastered a few of your tracks now, your mixes are always pretty well tonally balanced.....taking a break, and listening on different systems and from different room positions, referencing against some of your favourite tracks you know to be well mixed, these are all sound techniques to help get to th epoint that you have that trust in your ears
