Ive set up a really minimal and poor youtube vid about that break :

Funny, I know, but please link/embed it everywhere
We will discover that sh/t !!!
As you maybe now, I wont give up.

Check this link please, everything is from a well known break, except the kick...
And honestly, this kick is sh*t...
Could you recommend me a good kick pack (for exs ).
And NO, I did not discover the break, just did not finish any tune in this year...I spend all of my studio time to design my own photek break, recreate it etc.
So this one is a well known break, but you wont believe if I tell you which one...
Lot of eqing, compressing, sequencing, etc...lot of work...
Just that damn kick
i could really like your break if the dominant snare was less scratchy/distorted. maybe try tightening the envelop on the kick and pulling it down in volume a tad. the kick is a bit synthetic feeling, what about replacing the 200 hz and lower range with kicks from old sweat or alligator boogaloo?
wasn't saying the snare needed to go. just eq a tad or take off the distortion. that's all i meant
otherwise, get to making something with that sweetness

I started tweaking this break 3-4 months ago :S
In case I really dont know what have I done on it
Anyway, Ive a cleaner version, and put it with a cleaner channel strip in logic, and found a nice kick on Soniccouture's Konkrete pack.
Ive add recently a stereo tremolo, with a very small dry/wet %, and just on the higher part of the break...and now its soooooooooo bright and "open"
Hahm...
go back to the studio, clean the dust from my k-station, and tweak some bass...and back to my friends dusty old attics to find more jazz piano stuffs

going to have to keep my eyes open
Yes, you can make your own photek break, but in case the break what we searching for is one lopp from a record
I see.
I think I know what you mean. It is possible to add some extra hits from other break, but the snare the kick the hihats, is from one breakbeat loop. (Read back a few pages or just check the tune called DustBall from Fracture, the ONE who knows the source of that breakbeat...I believe him )
Anyway, of course its possible to recreate it, check the sample what Ive linked above.
Sick breaks at all
I am looking forward to hearing your crime rhodes photek inspired tune... seems like you have a clear idea what you are after...
Quote:I've got my own photek breaks, YES, I've recreated almost 100% the "clangy one" from rigns around saturn, and ufo. Trust me, its not based on that break what Fracture discoverd. Just slow it down (from smoke rings), you will realize that its from Lyn Collins. Just check the tamb sounds.
I sort of gave up on searching for this break a while ago, hell, I probably wouldn't use it in a track anyways. There's not much sense in recreating something another bloke did 14 years ago
Quote:Then load up your copy of the think break, and play with freq/pitch shift, and timstreetch...
trust me
I really wanna trust you (I do!), but I can hardly believe it's the Think break... If so, there's FAR more being done than simple timestretching/pitchshifting. The kickdrum actually has that certain ring to it.
What about posting the snare of your Photek break? I'd really like to hear if they're really (almost) identical
what an epic (and entertaining thread..)
snaper- big ups for your persistence!!!
