Gutted people not mentioned Bill Bailey. His version of the 9 O'clock News theme rocked the house when I saw him.

Dude you rock! The other voices in your head were just about to post this!
Supposed to be doing a double tonight: electro/rave/synthpop at a pub's upstairs room, but it's terribly claustrophobic. Then it'd be straight to a basement club for Andrea Parker and Shitmat headlining, also with P45 who's shared bills with Squarepusher and Plaid, plus a local Oxford group. Used to go to D&B nights there. Crucially I'm too occupied, that and I feel like retiring from much gigging altogether.
The Unabombers tonight at The Gramaphone.
Heavy.
off to see Birchville Cat Motel tonight
(in his Our Love Will Destroy The World guise)
Moritz von Oswald Trio, Demdike Stare and Actress at Arnolfini on Saturday.
bonobo friday (band)
dont really know what to expect, which is good.
saw monolake and william bassinski earlier this month
both were spectacular
how was Daniel Higgs, was he alone?
Last week went to Talvin Singh and Niladri Kumar. Was really great experience, except of the acoustics of the place.
Today going to see and hear Poogie Bell and his band.
Next month - Alan Wilder as Recoil and Architect.

Yes, just him and his banjo.
His banjo playing is very interesting; he seems to have incorporated a lot of techniques: Appalachian old-time banjo, Chinese pipa, Turkish Oud...
I'll be sure to check out some of his stuff, really like the video you posted
last night: Polar Bear
Got ticket for Wu-Tang Clan next month and planning to attend Moodymann's performance (well, it's almost proper gig).
Also some neat festivals upcoming summer.
I caught GZA 2 weeks ago, was alright, good songs of course, but i dunno probably not the most capturing vibe.
coming up
jah wobble & the modern jazz ensemble
hypnotic brass ensemble
vinnie paz & ill bill
banco de gaia

Was Leafcutter John playing with them?
Not a 'gig' per se, but a return to live action for me: Al Murray stand up at Oxon's New Theatre. Should be a laugh!
And if I had someone to go with, I'd still consider Mono with the Holy Ground Orchestra at London's Koko on the 7th.

jah wobble tonight!

how was he?
amazing.
really good vibes, starting off with slow prog rock ish, then into slightly irish folk with jazz, then after the interval two japanese ladies came on stage and one played the koto and the other on a bamboo flute, creating some wicked oriental dub for a few songs, then finished up with some of his own dub, and then a few dub covers of augustus pablo and a few more.
some of the tracks played are here,

i remember them playing 1, 2, 5, + 6
Went to see Sunburned Hand of the Man tonight.
It was at Romsey Town Labour Club which is a tatty little place on the edge of Cambridge, and had a dozen or so uninterested locals playing pool and chatting at the back.
But Sunburned were properly amazing, improvising a soundtrack to Ira Cohen's The Invasion of Thunderbolt Pagoda with appropriate levels of whacked out noise and moaning and droning. It was a genuinely transcendant experience, despite the low key setting - the whole thing had that sort of mad alien internal logic where everything follows on and makes sense but not in any normal sense of making sense...
I'm still fairly buzzy about it, tbh.
Sepultura are playing in Pontypridd
i never got to see these back in the day, so i may have to attend.
First music gig in 6 months for me yesterday; loved it.
