My earliest memory of really liking music was this tune and they were also the first band my old man took me see live , not bad considering I was 8.
another one for TVG
and:
Statto Wrote:another one for TVG nice. the 2nd half is quite good. i also like around 1:30 where you can start to hear a sense of the room acoustics. i really like recordings that weren't in a sterile, dead room TVG Wrote:nice. the 2nd half is quite good. i also like around 1:30 the whole thing is superb
of course, more that it was around half way through that i realized, "im listening to something quite excellent here" and then it continued to progress when i thought it would repeat the first phrase
really liking the rina ketty.
cycom Wrote: more Brazilian stuff? Statto Wrote:cycom Wrote: not really... but yeah
well obviously it's a David Bowie song
Statto Wrote:well obviously it's a David Bowie song :P He did a couple of those for the Life Aquatic soundtrack I believe (Starman, Life on Mars, Changes...) If you're going to cover Bowie it's gotta be done like this, imo. Reduced and giving it a new twist (in this case the portuguese vocals). related (properly covering Tom Jobim ain't that easy, either, I suppose): cycom Wrote:Statto Wrote:well obviously it's a David Bowie song :P Hi Thomas! I love all the stuff you posted here! The Life Aquattic soundtrack was great, Wes Anderson surely knows how to use music in his movies! (du musst mir mal ein paar tips geben, kenn mich nicht so aus mit der ganzen brasilianischen Mucke!)

thx, mate
Not too sure about my knowledge of brazilian music, though. I barely scratched the surface. Only certain songs seem to work for me and have not yet found out wether they belong to a certain genre/subgenre or wether it's just random tunes. For starters try Antonio Carlos Jobim, Elis Regina & Joao Gilberto |
