Quote:Ahmadinejad said there was a theory that "some segments within the US government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy and its grips on the Middle East in order also to save the Zionist regime.

"The majority of the American people as well as other nations and politicians agree with this view," he said.

is he taking the piss or what

Hahaha
the guy's a provocative rabble-rouser, but not a particularly dangerous one, which is what the US is trying to portray him as.

He needs to read some Noam Chomsky if he wants to attack the US over its foreign policy, rather than conspiracy theories about 911
I think he might just be taking the piss, you know.

He may be a bit loony, but it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside then I think about the huge numbers of fat, conservative Americans who are going to be up in arms about this. Nice going I say Smile
.. but huge numbers of fat conservatives are most likely to vote in someone like palin ... the world will be mired in bullshit for another four years if that happens.

The UN isn't the platform for shoring up your domestic vote IMO.

Chavez took that angle. Fuck-all good it did for his rep in the West - he's still regularly portrayed in the Guardian et al as a hardcore Looney Left-dictator. Basically, anybody who opposes Western hegemony must be 'crazy'.

There's no good reason why elements in the US security agencies couldn't have been involved in 9/11, just as the Russian FSB were very likely behind the 1999 apartment bombings in Moscow. Gulf of Tonkin, anyone? Rather than dismiss it as an impossibility, I would question the usefulness of pursuing that theory - as, without full confessions from the participants in any such plot, it will remain just that - a conspiracy theory.

Obviously the claim that most Americans suport this theory is bullshit, but then again, so is the claim that most Afghans want Western 'democracy'.
Keep JUMPin ya Bastids

Surely it's better than shoring up your domestic vote by bombing + invading other countries - something incumbent American presidents seem to specialise in?
