What was it like?

They chose Ray Keith as King of the Amen. They did not choose Dillinja or Krome and Time or anyone else. Fair enough.

also got the year that GC Coleman died wrong...

i thought it needed more amen tbh. :-B

anyone know the hiphop / break tune at 15:30?? just as slipmat starts talking

They played Acid Rain VIp as the most rinsed out torn up version of Amen. Which is probably true. Colemanism is probably the tune with the most of the Amen Brother tune in it.

On a seperate note. From listening to that and doing a little digging, I found out that The Winstons basically combined the original 'Amen' (http://youtu.be/rn6w255CGkk) with the The Impressions tune 'We're a Winner' (http://youtu.be/-HKoOYdhkq0).

So the most sampled break in history was itself a mash up of two other tunes. I love these types of stories.

I was sad to here, though, that Gregory Coleman died penniless and homeless when he should have been touring with The Winstons just playing Amen Brother everywhere, much like Jabo and Stubblfield just play old James Brown tunes with breaks in them.

Does anyone know which version of Amen is played toward the end of the show?

I laughed at the amount of non amen edits that seemed to be examples of how diverse the amen can be made to sound

its amazing how much a hotpants or tighten up is an amen
