For The Ambient Lovers...review and mixtape archive 001

In the squawked pigeonn English of Kali the foul-mouthed pigeon, "you will see me do sumfinng!" with my next record.

I'm using basic recording tech and also some resampling. I plan to integrate speckled live sounds across tracks, with software intervention. Sample manipulations.

The result will be a development on "Neurondisiac" project, in terms of stylistic density. Software "and" hardware. A real blend.

I have a track right now that is resampling audio from my flagship cheap analog keyboard, the Casio CTK (available in Argos 8 years ago), which puts analog Clavichord and Warm Pad presets through electronic Crystal Reverb, the filters of my hardware, and the reverb module built in to the synth. It's basically a remix of "Blue And Reflected Instrumental" with the FX used, and the way it sounds. Really pleased with it.

Aduantas - Go Deo

Sounding incredible from the off, this "Go Deo" by Aduantas release, the first track probes with very yearning timbres that ache and strain like coruscating logs on a bonfire. The music is accompanied well by spoken murmurs and an almost film noir narrative. Really excellent sounds in this track "Suas Sios", similar to Murmur and Biosphere. Luckily for me and you, this album is full of this kind of multilayered Angel Cake sound.

Where "Suas Sios" took in a harsher bent to drug the brain like Elderflower Jelly, the prism-grip longing of "Ah Ghrin", third piece here resoundingly re-opens on and off on itself, as if some kind of bipolar serpent. Long lavish layers of synth crush like waves against a riverbank on a stormy day. Where the record unfurls to rally, it is highly successful. Where the yearning is great, we see a met sense of fulfillment.

As the concept progresses in breadth, the quality only increases in scope. Furtive, yes, and ultimately beneficial to the makers of this album, as they have really achieved a sense of inner peace. Thanks, Aduantas. Drone as a genre can be seen as a fruitful place away from generic Ambient World tags for the hardened old timers among us, but it's also welcoming to the new. That is, this album, this artist, this label. "Go Deo" is right up there with Willits & Sakamoto's wonferful "Ocean Fire" from 2008 for blissful pennies from heaven.
