Recommend me some techno

Techno techno techno techno...

I need some to listen to.

Requirements:
reasonably percussive but not totally aggro nosebleed oonce oonce oonce stuff
a bit cerebral but still with a bit of funk / soul to it
long format ie albums, compilations or mixes
basically solid techno ie no ten minute downtempo breakbeat workouts to showcase the producer's versatility
any era provided it's not impossible to get hold of
and don't assume that I've got the obvious classic stuff because I probably haven't!

Cheers, looking forward to your suggestions...

if you had to (hard)press me for a top 3 techno albums it would be these:

DJ Shufflemaster - Exp (Tresor)
http://www.discogs.com/DJ-Shufflemaster-...ter/118768

Bandulu - Guidance (Infonet)
http://www.discogs.com/Bandulu-Guidance/master/23052

The Advent - Elements of Life (Internal)

but there is so much more stuff out there I could recommend you depending on how cerebral you want to go, or if you just want to jack.

there isn't a Bandulu album I don't like if I'm honest. Antimatters had Presence, which is a classic. Top 10 track for me, hands down. Cornerstone had Weak Heart and Running Time.
Even Redemption had some cracking material - vinyl version was better, or maybe the single from the album... memory escapes me, it's all lost anyway.

If you can find anything on Foundation Sound Works, it's more on the minimal side of the spectrum, but well worth digging. Of it's time: 1996-1998.
Also related, I am a big fan of Jamie Bissmire's other work, especially the material on Ground where he goes all Jeff Mills/Robert Hood-esque.
done
Some awesome stuff here, thanks! That Surgeon thing was already on the list, actually.

I guess my thing is that I'm basically after stuff to listen to at home, but I lose patience a but with techno type stuff that's totally severed its ties with the dancefloor.

Thinking I should probably be properly catching up with all the Detroit classics that I never picked up enough of, too - yer Carl Craig and Jeff Mills type stuff.
Some of the stuff that I've already got and like:
Various late 90s Jeff Mills 12s
Some mnml stuff (Perlon / Villalobos)
Drexciya
Tresor comps
Audion - Suckfish
May / Atkins / Saunderson classics
Basic Channel + Maurizio

I've been picking up odd things on and off for years, but never with much focus...
I've also been feeling this mix from Lord of the Isles a lot lately:

If you haven't already, Stacy Pullen's 1995 Silent Phase lp is a treat. One of my fave releases ever. Smile

I've been picking up odd things on and off for years, but never with much focus...
Robert Hood - Minimal Nation (very,er, minimal)
Basic Channel - BCD/2
Maurizio - M-Series
Scion's Basic Channel mix on Tresor is fucking great
Carl Craig - More Songs about Food and Revolutionary Art (not really techno, but a fantastic album anyway)
Regis - Necklace of Bites (bosh bosh bosh)
Surgeon - Food for Thought mix is fantastic, as is the Tresor stuff
Villalobos - Fabric mix
Bruno Pronsato - Why Can't We Be Like Us
Ø - Metri
Anything on Sandwell District
Jeff Mills - Waveform Transmission Vol 3 (to pick one)
Kassem Mosse - Workshop 19
Monolake - Polygon Cities
Got the Surgeon Tresor 3CD through the post today. Really looking fwd 2 chexxin it fully.
Well worth a mention is Fort Romeau - Insides LP - a sortof deephouse/techno crossover album, with no vocals, dreamy melodies and solid drums.

Also Q3A EP on Blackest Deer in +ToRMeNT+'s 'Dimension Intrusion' thread is fantastic techno, albeit there's only clips at Juno and SC as vinyl sold out.

Most of the stuff on Jeff Mills 'The Jungle Planet' is superb, from what I checked. Lovely ambience work with slipstreaming percussion patterns.

I really like Dense & Pika - Crispy Duck EP as well, need to dig for audio of that again. It's maddeningly good.

Mark E - Product Of Industry on Ghostly International is excellent too. Nice fluid stream of 4/4.

If you want more abstract, which I love, Lone - Reality Testing is noteworthy, it's more broken beats style however.

To finish I am enamoured with Mindspan - The Second Cycle, The Aeon Expanse and Purl on Silent Season. Beauts of tranquil harmony and rhythm.
And did anyone speak of Rhythm & Sound?
Some good advice here, thanks. I'll be getting my shop on soon.
I'd like to add an Aphex Twin album to the list too, namley his first Polygon window Album "Surfing on Sinewaves". Me thinks, it is his most "techno"-sounding album and it's excellent.

beats are there to be broken http://musicindevon.org/
another oldie from me, but with good reasons:

compilation "From Our minds to Yours" vol 2 from Plus 8

This came out after Plus8 abandoned it's more hard techno beginnings and wasn't on the lifeless "minimal techno" trip yet.
