I may have attended a doomed, 1991 (??) era, Front Line Assembly gig that lasted only something like 20 - 30 mins. 1991, electronic music bashed out live, primitive by today's standards right? Their gear crashed, and there were reports they got beat up by local skin heads after the show.
But I digress.
I used to see Bill Leeb walking around locally in downtown Vancouver back in the day, and I would internally fanboy, yet play it cool. lol. TRUE STORY: HMV, Vancouver, BC, the old Robson Street location, 1995. Aphex Twin's "...I Care Because You Do" lp just came out. I just so happened to walk in the store a bit before Bill Leeb walked in - of COURSE I noticed him right away. We both just so happened to reach for the Aphex Twin cd nearly at the same time in the "electronica" cd bin section.. We looked at each other. We said nothing. The Skinny Puppy, FLA et all, fan in me played it cool. I bought this guy's music, went to his shows, grew up on his works. I didn't even say ".. yo Hey Bill... your tunes are ill.. " or some shit.
Bill Leeb was in front of my face.
I said nothing. lol
That was one time I bumped into Bill Leeb in silent acknowledgement while living in downtown Vancouver. Um.. I later ended up playing Aphex Twin's "Ventolin" on one of my first radio broadcasts that same week of my Bill Leeb HMV encounter. I have never bought a physical Aphex Twin release since. True story.
Front Line Assembly have a pretty stacked bandcamp these days. GO DIG!! There is a NEW Front Line Assembly, Carbon Games, "WarMech" game soundtrack lp dropping June 2018. Could be interesting for the gamer set. I was bruk'in out to the classic, live FLA "Live Wired" release a couple weeks ago. Good times.

YES!
From the start, there was always been decades deep, senses of melody within the Front Line Assembly equation. Nice to see Rhys representing that quality on his lp. I very much recognize the long standing influence of earliest psytrance on local, Vancouver, B.C. ebm dating back from the early to mid 90's - there has always been a crossover there, including some of Front Line Assembly's production developments during that time as well. As producers in their own right, Fulber, Bill Leeb and peers obviously listen to EVERYTHING, and have always produced a huge, diverse range of sounds from commercial electronic musics, right up to industrial, and metal of course. That sense of melody has always been there, playing against an array of influences that have come to be included within their collective works from day one. This far on, I still very much appreciate that, for sure. Fulber captures all that greatly here. Deep & dark.
Love the lp sir Fulber!

Decree - Vancouver, BC, Canada
AWESOME, August 2018 reissue via Vancouver's Artoffact Records
".. Originally released in 1997 on the now-defunct Decibel and Off Beat labels, the debut album from Decree is a mid-90s industrial masterpiece! Masterminded by Front Line Assembly and Delerium contributor Chris Peterson, along with Jeff Stoddard and John McRae, the Decree debut has been out of print for well over a decade. Now remastered and with a previously unreleased bonus track, you can enjoy this slab of Vancouver industrial lore courtesy Artoffact Records.."

Props to Chad Bocott youtube channel for the Decree uploads!
".. After debuting in the mid-90s with the stunning Wake of Devastation, Decree went on hiatus for a nearly a decade, while Chris Peterson contributed to Front Line Assembly and Delerium albums and live duties. The band resurfaced in 2004 with Moment of Silence, an explosive CD of dark and twisted industrial that convinced everyone who heard it that this was the real deal. And indeed it was: Decree is still touted as one of the most cerebral and difficult bands of its generation, and one of the best.."
