use of X's in artist titles

What's all this using X whenever I see multi artist line up these days, every where I go now I'm seeing some person X another rando X so on

Like, wasn't good old , and & good enough anymore or 'feat' or even vs.... It's so visually incongruous

Must be some sort of multi dimensional artist array or something, i don't know
