Ice found on the surface of mars

Pretty exciting stuff... anyone care to elaborate on how likely this makes the possibility of there being life present?

There always has been ice on the surface of Mars. There are ice caps visible to telescopes on Earth. Unless they find a man trapped in the ice, I'm not going with this one...

Exactly. Why all the fuss now? They've "discovered" ice that we already knew was there. Hardly gives any more justification to the theory that there was life on mars at some point.
Who knows what all the fuss is about. There's ice in comets too. Water doesn't mean anything, as far as the existence of life.

There's going to be some virus out there that's just going to incubate slowly and then when the explorers return to Earth it's going to wipe us out.

two things: the ice is almost 99% of the water, so much so that the thin atmosphere pressure actually is reduced by almost half when the winter temperatures solidify most of it

...and the rovers are not returning to Earth

The above pictures are of HIV...are you suggesting that HIV was brought to Earth from ice in a comet?

Don't be ridiculous, everyone knows it was created by the american army to...er...ehm... for some reason.

Ice on mars is a big deal.
Of course we can see it but we've never been able to analyze it for microbial bacteria or fossils thereof before.
Was this found on the surface and not on the caps? Cool! because if it was it would be strong evidnence that Mars had Rivers and Oceans in the past i.e. an atmosphere and maybe life.
