im thinking about sampling my own speech and then making a full on ambient not a break in sight piece from it, using the old aphex twin make anything from anything theory and have the song climax in it being the speech dry but kinda morphing into it

over and over again for 60 secs, with different timing of the phrases, so that different meanings came out of it each time.

and it worked.

kind of a weird ambient/aregioey/808'y thing, wasnt really planning anything, just messed around with some sounds that i thought were nice.
was really fun making it though, knowing that ive only got 60 seconds to muster some kind of build up and simmer down I hope i manage it.

hehe, yup it is a bit too long but i was presuming that they would be faded into each other.. plus i always put about a 2 second silence at the front when i bounce out of cubase just so that it gets the whole selection

i guess i should have mentioned that all submissions will be cut at 60 seconds - but of course i would cut the 2 secs at the beginning before butchering the piece

the ideal playing of this compilation would be in front of a clock - so that the listener can be aware of how many seconds are left in the piece, and which piece s/he is listening to denoted by the minute hand.

but ya - no fading. its just one after another, so its all about grouping i guess, if there are several that have a techo-y aspect to them, versus others that are orchestral, versus vocal or whatever, this will be taken into account in the groupings.


any lurkers out there that are doing this but not mentioned it yet? at some point next week, I'll need a head count - probably just do a poll just to see who is doing it...

ok cool man, well when you get an ftp or somthing for submissions ill up the proper wav file and chop it down to exactly 60 seconds
I like the idea of listening with a clock

ive always got one eye on the clock when im writing now, if i use a sequrncer without an obvious in yer face clock like sx has (i.e ableton or reason<<sounds poo anyway) i never feell right

dunno whether thats good or bad
