easy..anyone know how much the soundtracs topaz s18-4 would go for??

i'm guessing not a lot but i'm looking to sell it on and get something else!

thanks
not sure to be honest, if there's no others around to judge prices by (quickly checked ebay, but nowt) i suppose you'll just have to approximate it's value from how much you paid, and when. I'll ask around if you work out a rough price.

Just out of interest/being a nosey geek bastard, what you thinking of getting instead - another desk?

maff
You mean a soundtracs, not soundcraft?

unfortunately bro, prices on those sort of desks arent too great these days :/

Id say you'd be looking at £150 to £200 max
yeh sorry soundtracs!

those prices sound good as i payed £110 about 3 years back

and i'm not sure what to get next to be honest..but i'm looking something brand new and smaller this time..

to be honest i'd rather not even use a desk..it's just something to use as a volume.

i'd preffer just running straight from the soundcard.

before this topaz i've got now i used a tapco 60...which is a tiny little thing lol but did the job and for 40-50 quid brand new it's a deal for what i wan't it to do. so i'll probably just buy another one of those again for now, maybe the one up from the 60 though..

Ok, so you're not too bothered about the sonic characteristics of the desk. In that case I would indeed suggest mixing ITB Xyxthumbs
i got one of these;

basically just a volume knob for powered speakers. kinda wish id bought the bigger one, you get more ins and outs, but not a mixer per se.

They'd be much better quality than a cheap mixer if you only want a volume knob. Passive circuitry, no cheap eq or preamps in the way.

mine is around £40

yeh well i used to record my tunes through the mixer when i had a behringer 8000 and it was a good sound with the warmth it gave but it was too big for my room. i tried recording with this topaz but i get a bit of a humming in the background which isn't nice so now i just bounce my tunes..

i'm also looking into a new soundcard too but not sure which to get yet...i'd be looking to spend around 300-400 on one if anyone's got any advise???

thnaks Smile

thats a massive subject lol.....is it for studio use only? for live? hoe many inputs and outputs do you need? Do you have firewire? what kind of PC/Mac are you using? PCIe slots?

I got one of these recently it's great, saves my back from bending down all the time to adjust the volume as my amp is under the desk at the back. Mine is siver though Smile!
yeah. if its a purely 2 in 2 out deal, then its perfect. balanced ins and outs an no power, perfect. (for me at least).

got it right in front of me, very smooth control and mute is handy. wish it bought the bigger one tho, no way to connect a sub, and it has a handy mono button.

oh well.
Yep i wish i bought it long ago tbh as it's sooo handy for me. means i dont have to fuck around with the soundcard output volume at all now, it just stays on zero. Think i paid about £35 inc postage, cant remember where from though.
me too. i only got it cus my mixer blew up. a 18 input mixer with only two ins and outs and the main stereo fader being used.

someone can have the old mixer if they want, it needs a new power supply, which is around £70 from soundcraft, ive taken it to bits (but youd have needed to do that yourself anyway), so youll have to fix it and put it in, but free (postage covered) if anyone wants, or collect near stockport.

its a spirit E12 info here http://www.soundcraft.com/products/product.aspx?pid=26
is that nanopatch passive ?

I got myself a soundtracs megas for a G, but they are much bigger than the Topaz, so i imagine a selling price of 4-500 would be alright. best thing to do is contact [email protected], who specialises in soundtracs desks. he'd let you know a decent price (depending on condition). once youve got a good idea, sell it on Ebay with a reserve price set at a level where you will be getting at least what you want for it.
