Did you get my PM colin?
Looks good.

What's the different between full license and discount license?

What are disadvantages of Reaper? I remember reading somewhere that it lacks a feature which is commonly used in other DAWs.

Full licence is for commercial use, discount is for non-commercial. Same features in each....

I'm sure there's plenty of disadvantages- I for one can't write a tune with any sense of structure in Reaper. But it's great for audio manipulation, so I use it pre (processing breaks) and post (one shot samples, cleanup) on my songs (which I've recently been doing in Buzz).

i use it in the exact opposite way - do all my writing, arranging, and recording in reaper, then put it all together in mixbus! i find it extremely easy to work in, but that's coming from having used vegas for years, and the interface is uncannily similar (to such an extent that i swear someone working on reaper loved vegas as much as i did.) MIDI sequencing and editing in it is a LOT more straightforward than either cubase or pro tools IMO.
Downloaded the demo a few hours ago... Gone through the tutorial vids and I must say it's not bad... looks a little bit confusing at first but it's really easy and fast to use. I still think nothing can top Renoise in terms of immediate and fast usage and I think I'll stick with Renoise for a while, but will have an eye on Reaper.

How do I cut and program breaks with Reaper btw? Haven't found out how to use the Piano roll for this task... also the lacking Sampler and Audio Editor in Reaper is a big disadvantage. Smile

Yep, I'm sure it's good for most people, but I just couldn't get anything with a good structure. In buzz I can see each loop for each machine and sequence out the overall song easier. But, it's buzz, so I kind of think I have a weird way of seeing things on the screen, haha.

And slicing breaks was mainly what made me find Buzz in the first place. I doubt anything will come close to a tracker for break slicing, if that's what you're used to....

I know some people talked about dynamic-slicing to midi and dropping the cuts into a sampler (think it was shortcircuit in the tutorial), then programming from the piano roll. I couldn't get along with that though.

Another way is to tab-s your break, clean up the slices, explode to new tracks in order, glue the items, and then drag them into your sampler. I found this to be long winded and didn't feel natural. Just give me sample offset and I'm all set.

Actually, if forced to mash breaks in reaper I would do it by hand, which takes (me) forever.

You'd be sure that Google was blocked for people on this thread Teef
i found that some tutorials really confuses you that much. my thread about routing and side chain problems with kontakt was a result of that f.e.

just found this

maybe it is very usefull for choppin breaks maybe not. didn`t try that myself.
if you zoom in very far and hit tab+s - choppin a break seems to be very easy...
Still feels like Reaper is not all the way there. Their customization options are pretty sick though, should make it easy for users to switch from other software, and setup mouse and modify keys to the way they are used to.

Just still feels like its not all the way there. Like having to customize the meters so they have db hashes on them... come on bro.
I never got on with reaper, crashed all the time with my UAD plugins.

And already owning cubase (which i know backwards) and ableton means im pretty covered DAW wise.
can someone tell me how i set a channel to mono?Oops
http://www.google.co.uk/search?gcx=w&sou...annel+mono
thanks, i googled it before the posting Wink

but i am not sure i understand it all the right way so...
