If you are using Cubase SX then you will have to make sure it clips at the actual master output - not the channel. Clipping won't occur if you redline the channel and then turn the master down by 6dB, as SX works at 32-bit floating point resolution internally. Therefore you need to run the sound out of the master to get clipping.
The easiest way to do it is simply do it in sound forge - do the eq, save preset, bounce, turn up the gain to get clipping, bounce/save, normalise to -6dB.
