I'm starting to think about changing my setup too. I bought a NI Audio Kontrol 1 about a month ago and while it's very portable, four outputs isn't really cutting it.

I've been doing some Ableton Live sets with a group lately and it really needs some crazy ape bonkers effects. It's also important for me to be able to be 'hands on' with the live stuff. I was thinking of getting a controller for vsts but I'm beginning to think a Kaoss Pad or something similar might be better.

So then, how to send individual channels from Ableton to the Kaoss Pad? Perhaps one of those Firewire mixers? Any ideas? Also, any better fx units?

So the tape machine arrived today, £20 or something all in. It is in priiiisssstiiiiine condition, with the box and manual and everything.

I opened the manual and it opened at the bit saying 'A too high recording level can saturate the tape and cause distortion'.

i think my old guitar amp had a spring reverb, the noise it made if you turned the reverb right up and then hit the box my guitar teacher hated it

try hitting them and see what happens

This tape machine is TEH DOGS Been running loads of full tunes through it and it is smooooooooooooooooth 20-summink quid for the best distortion ev0r And I only have a shit tape atm - got some chrome bizzle on the way

theres one going for 21 quid now 4 hours left if anyones interested

Got my 2nd springverb today (3rd tomorrow probably ) , and it is a doooooooooooooozy You can spank the input and run it dry for dirty crunch (nice up to a point), but the spring itself is a fucking fat dirty shit spring Sounds not unlike the UAD plate 140 plate B in terms of frequency response, if only mono. And a spring. And noisy. Had to gate it a bit on the tails as it goes But it doesn't matter that much...

Panning the PSE (this one) one way and the RV-1 the other makes a fucking massive stereo spring-based verb. It's killing me!

Oh, and the reason I came on here was cos the tape machine is kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilling it!! Proper monstrous!

Ben, hook yours up to yer PC! Through my ADAT box, I record out peaking near 0 to the tape, wang up the input gain all the way so it's getting mashed and then record the tape back in. It sounds fakkin superb
