hmmm....

never a huge fan - although i've picked up a few bits and pieces over the years (mainly for nostalgic purposes, because i used to hang out with this english guy who absolutely battered every single BC / RAM / Virus / Hardware tune at the time... )

about the only bad company 12" i ever liked enough to actually buy and still regularly dig out is the one they had on dsci4 "coma" / "spraycan" - really unusual bleepy dubby minimal thing, with a really "techno" arrangement to it - ten years on and it hasn't aged a day imo, and much as "the nine" sounded like a party in a can at the time you can't say the same about it now....

as an aside note, in te brief period when i was mc-ing quite regularly at this wee jumpup night i used to physically cringe every single bloody time some dj would try and tease "the nine" in and double-drop it with something... that's a lot of cringing...

The Nine and The Pulse played a major role in getting me into dnb. I think I have everything they did as BC (or daft logo) up to Shot Down on Safari which i didn't bother with. Don't play much of it now tbh, but like Tyranny i'd say Coma & Spraycan probably get played most regularly these days. BC will always have a place in my heart though! Did Aisle 13 ever get released?
They were brilliant for a point in time.
Not the type of D&B I love, but I did really enjoy many tunes.
Flashback
The Pulse
Mass Hysteria (probably my fave BC track, works so well with Valley Of The Shadows)

etc etc

Shame they had a 1000 clones, and everything went dark, formuliac, and then they broke the mode by doing tunes like Snowcats.

Although The Hornet is a good tune, there, I said it.
Hmmmm Bad Company?

I guess i do like them but i don't think there as amazing as alot of folk make out.

Colonies FTW on INside the Machine - the rest of which leaves me pretty cold.

Bought (and sold) the Book of the bad series and probably shouldn't have.

I like The Pulse and Planet Dust.

I don't mourn their passing though.
DUBPLATE (Retired)
All a bit meh and very mediocre.

.

magical song, their stuff was great. Sci fi at it's finest.
mattrick Wrote:Did Aisle 13 ever get released?

yeah, D-Bridge put it out on Exit, I believe.
tyranny Wrote:hmmm....

that's a lot of cringing...

yes indeed it would be a lot of cringing

how did the Nine become "that tune" to be teased with and double dropped?

double dropping in general can be so sweet, but why do it with that ONE tune when you KNOW(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) it's been done like that 1000 times before
it's all about "Breathe."

anything else from them i can't really listen to for too long.

Re: Planet Dust, the intro's rather nice. Can't be bothered to play the rest of it though.

in fairness - i eventually concluded that it's a little bit like the way scratch dj's use a generally very limited set of classic and instantly recognisable scratch samples ("fffffresh" and "ah yeah" for example) - it sort of puts you on a level playing field and the challenge is to do something different with the sounds you have available - for a crushingly simple tune i certainly heard it done in a wide variety of very different ways (with varying results it must be said)...

were amazing back in the day....

one of the names who really got me hooked into D&B big time

along with ed rush & optical, jonny L & Dom & Roland

i also have lots of their old stuff....although i never play them now, i could never bring myself to sell them.....
I'm not too sure of the chronolgy of it, but you have Absolute Zero & Subphonics - The Fugitive on RH012 around 98, and then Fresh & Vegas - Mekon on Breakbeat Culture (which has Stealth on the flip - all 4 of them).

The Nine is just a combination of both of those tracks really.

i did it Smile i flicked through it so far, cant say anything jumped out and grabbed me, at all.

i plan to have a proper listen to it though and give a more formulated opinion soon! Xyxthumbs

i think i am familiar with this bc sound, i did hear from others blasting it out, as none of it was too 'unfamilar' to me
