Weight of vinyl?

Hey all,

I'm selling a load of records on IDNB and have had a couple of enquiries from outside dublin. I have a list of postage rates here, but have no idea how much vinyl weighs.

so... does anyone have approx. weights for:

1 x 12" + sleeve
1 x record mailer + stiffener.

Standard weight vinyl is around 120-140g so work from that i guess.

I have vast experience of the Irish postal system !




the weights you need to watch, as the prices for postage change once you go over these are :

500g
1kg
2kg


1 record / sleeve / extra cardboard is under 500g - would be around 300g as Fracture said.


2 records with cardboard and a regular mailer yokey is just over 500g. Some times I just use 1 piece of cardboard and wrap the whole thing in heavy paper and it comes in somewhere between 485 and 500g


4 records with 1 piece of cardboard and a regular mailer thing will generally be around 950 - 1kg (almost always under a 1kg)

€4.75 for 1 x 12" envelope and stiffeners

vinyls can be from 120 to 200 g, depending on the pressing.

so sad, i smelled some nerd topic in here about the so-called heavyweight super duper quality vinyl... which is an urban myth btw

usually, add some gramms for the cover, too. if it is a fat longplayer cover, even more. 12inch cardboard boxes are around 200 g, to be added...
