buying one record reviewed in The Wire each month

Found The Heliocentrics download to purchase on there. Listening again now. It's obscurely fitting the broken beat / nu jazz fusion genreification, in that it sounds new-fangled but is ultimately psychedelic downbeat. Check those burring synth transmissions there.

(Dammit ski of shortbread getting me to buy records again Spank )

but what sort of stuff is it? "New Weird Australia" doesn't sound very promising (given that I think New Weird America is mostly garbage)
fwiw I've just realized that three of the four records in my #371 shortlist are from Frances Morgan's column

Best not to go by names anyway Wink

It's all ambient/drone/experimental kinda stuff from deaf knowledge. I reviewed Invisible Prism and Ill Professor from Wood And Wire and it's connected to the same group of labels. The second compilation got changed on my download sends but has Pimmon in it, so should be a good compilation.
Just had a quick look at the site...

""The marketing narratives laid down by the likes of Red Bull and similar have helped beckon forth an enveloping haze of meaningless positivity, creating a world that’s happy yet contentless, adult but toothless."

Sounds good Smile
Robert Fripp: "What are the characteristics of a creative endeavour? It's play; it's positive; it embraces joy. What are the characteristics of a legal dispute with highly paid lawyers and the world's largest record company? Endless grief".
#nowplayingfomthewire Laura Cannell - Quick Sparrows Over The Black Earth (Brawl CD)
That above album is pretty damn good. Recommended if you like Anne Hytta - Draumsyn, and I actually think it's better - it's more orchestrally poised without as much wilt.
Cannell has another release which came on after on Spotify - "Feathered Swing Of The Raven", and like a feather, it doesn't hold much weight.
"The overall thing is: why catalogue this?' asks Fripp rhetorically. "Well, if live shows were hot dates and albums were love letters, Crimson was always better in the clinches. So to present an accurate view of King Crimson you present the live performances. There are key albums, but they are always superseded by the band performing live, although the record of a live performance is clearly not the live performance. Nevertheless it gives a better sense of what the band is. My view is that King Crimson is an important band in its field, and a band which has a very unusual trajectory and process, which is continuing".

I liked it – especially the double recorder tunes – but not enough to make my short list

it'll probably be the Bj̦rk Р"probably" because I bought it last week and haven't got round to listening to it yet

Fauxpas
I met Bjork last month Oops (Hugs)

anyway, i've been doing some historical cross-referencing this morning and afternoon between #367 (Dean Blunt - dear god that front cover is garish) and #374 on pages 59-62 specifically. i picked out a possibly steadfast tangentiality this section of the maggazine has: introducing a sub theme (because after that comes the columns) but in terms of metacognition, actual passage to forgetfulness. This narrative understructuring had lots of signifiers which is likely a cornerstone of Wire's editorial policy - in order to conclude things well in that section at least - and so it flows as well as possible between modes of reference.
Stat zee skit, have a deaf recommendation (seeing as you mentioned 'Karakany' in 2008 int.) Paal Nilsen-Love - http://boomkat.com/vinyl/1230837-paal-ni...rean-gongs
