Cstvt (originally Castevet - Chicago, IL) may or may not still be a band, its been long enough since these records came out. you hear "..writing new songs" here and there tho. members played with Evan Weiss in his bands Into It Over It, Stay Ahead Of The Weather and such over the past few years. Its all been great. I'm sure there will be other bands & projects in the wake of

its been awhile since i heard these b2b, i've spent many a chunk of time listening to Cstvt back when.

I still love these records, if & when. the 7" is good too.

So.. maybe this new Drug Church "Swell" e.p (February, 2015) is the best thing I've heard Patrick Kindlon do in a long time.

End of A Year, Self Defense Family (.. or any variation of the name really) will always have its charm. always aloof. maybe too abstract for some.

I honestly think Drug Church are running the show tho. LOVING IT ALL.

this is fantastic.

the new Sleater-Kinney lp is kickin. rightfully so.

as expected. Smile bring it!

SK LP is great.
^^ yes, it is!! Smile

CHOKE were/are a band from Edmonton, AB, Canaduh from back in the day, 1994 - 2007, and have reunited for the odd gigs since. technical, progressive, melodic hardcore was their thing. and they did a good job at it. its easy to take local bands for granted when they are active, considering how much they toured during that time. it was always a great live show, and Choke was one band that resonated with those looking for something a bit different - thinking man's hardcore if you will. I miss listening to them sometimes, like right now.

I just finished work, and I randomly had a Choke tune in my head. hence this post. props to all who've posted entire Choke lp's on youtube over the years. bigs.

a nice compendium to the post-Choke catalog from a few years ago.

Passenger Action - Edmonton, AB

they only released one self titled lp, in 2009. a continuation of the sound Choke were doing in the later lps, and a bit more atmospheric in places. its a good lp. Smallman Records from Winnipeg were responsible for most of the Choke releases, as well as the Passenger Action lp.

this is hella mathy, free jazzy, & geeky all at once.. par for the course right?

new Zu (Rome, Italy) - Cortar Todo lp - forthcoming March 24, 2015, via Ipacec Recordings.

http://ipecac.com/artists/zu

see... i kinda have this thing for Italian hardcore. it is... generally, the ills.

if you haven't noticed, I also have this thing for really fast, snotty, distorted hardcore too.

so.. best of both worlds here. Smile I love this shit.

CLASS - Milan, Italy

if you google it, there are soooo many bands with the name "Impalers".. or any arrangement of the word.

Impalers FROM TEXAS, are the only Impaler(s) I give a fuck about as I post, k? Yes

http://theimpalers.bandcamp.com/

So Unfun (Vancouver, B.C) called it quits late last year Icon_sad

that sort of leaves a void in my snotty distorted pop punk tastes around these parts.

Shared Arms (Windsor, Ontario) fill that void quite well tho.

this is great! Late night listening.. yup!
