Considering I wasn't personally into most of the 90's specific influences you could reference on this lp at the time, in retrospect, perhaps this is one of the best culminations of 90's sounds NOT to have been released 20 years ago.

The Body
how I luv thee "I Have Fought Against It, But I Can't Any Longer." lp, May 2018 https://thebody.bandcamp.com/ This makes my fuckin week!
There's very few, old skool, 80's hardcore punk bands or songs that will randomly slip into my head this far on, that I'll then find myself humming the tunes all day. Perhaps, The Descendents (.. that is a given), even the odd Exploited song of all things, might randomly lurk in my subconsciousness and I'll end up jamming to the tunes in my head all day if & when. It comes & goes. Sometimes, I haven't listened to the song, lp, or bands for YEARS, decades even, and I'll still have the tune lurk up in my earworm bank at any given time. The stuff is that ingrained within. ha.
One key exception is the Circle Jerks, and I've posted a looong way back in the thread (lol) about said tunes. Very often, I'll randomly have Circle Jerks songs floating about in my head. Like TODAY, as I post for instance. I listened to them TONS as a kid. It is a always a good thing in my world. The songs will ALWAYS kick ass. Live fast, die young. On my mind for today. https://frontierrecords-circlejerks.bandcamp.com/ Beat Me Senseless 0:00 High Price On Our Heads 2:06 Letter Bomb 4:26 In Your Eyes 5:32 Making The Bombs 6:14 All Wound Up 9:42 Coup D'Etat 11:17 Mrs. Jones(intro) 13:10 Mrs. Jones 13:38 Back Against The Wall 17:14 Casualty Vampires 19:01 I Don't 21:22 Making Time 23:27 Junk Mail 25:50 I, I & I 26:52 World Up My Ass 29:01 I Just Want Some Skank 30:16 Beverly Hills 31:29 The Crowd 32:32 When Shit Hits The Fan 34:02 Deny Everything (intro) 36:35 Deny Everything 36:46 Wonderful (intro) 37:11 Wonderful 37:40 Wild In The Streets 39:42
I've been digging the early End of A Year, Self Defense Family releases that even I didn't have back when they were offering the diy, free dl's of their earliest tunes via myspace years back circa 2004, 2006- ish. The band have changed in extremities along the way of course, which is humorous to see how much a band can alienate the fan base at any given time - which is one of their appealing factors imo. The Lungfish, Discord Recs comparison still rings true, as Lungfish have always evolved along their discography as well, an obvious influence on End Of a Year, Self Defense Family, etc. Of course, Rites of Spring come to mind as well at specific eras for the band which I've always enjoyed and have posted in the past. Always a good listen. And a band collective that have kept me entertained this far on. Always awaiting new stuff from the camp regardless.

Its been 4 years of this here thread, now amassing over 400K views, if those are human clicked views, I hope you've got something out of all of this. As ever, props to the mouse clickin' massive? We all know music forums are rare, perhaps obsolete, I mean, who needs to blog anyway? Forum or die, right? As ever, music forum threads offer mere blips of sonic dialogue in a paella of diminishing attention spans that we call musick. I've never listened to music on my phone.. am I missing out on an experience? I still rock an mp3 player, I LISTEN TO THE RADIO (when it is good), podcasts, I stream everything. Live gigs.. when the need arises, sure! Bandcamp, of course. Regardless, thank gawd for the DIY. We are still with you.
Still. Sometimes a 20 minute grindcore album, or an entire powerviolence band's discography in 30 mins is all we need in this day & age, no? There are still opinions that if a hardcore band can't get it done in 20 minutes, the point is missed. I get it. It spates, for sure. Definitely when it calls for it. I mean, in contrast, I have this penchant for sloooow and heavy tho, if you haven't noticed - big up the blackened doom diaspora, bleak, slow... make it sting. Dichotomy is needed in extremes. SPAZZ https://www.discogs.com/artist/253290-Spazz informal noun offensive noun: spazz 1. short for spastic. verbUS verb: spazz 1. lose physical or emotional control. "he offered a post-game assessment: “I spazzed out real bad.” SPAZZ... the 90's. SPAZZ were THERE, SPAZZ are * intrinsically * 90's. SPAZZ were 90's commentary, demolishing rivaling youth subcultural trends and projected fads within 1 minute blasts of confidence and self-righteousness. Why not? Crashing the emo party before it even started, calling out ravers and their stinkin drugs, songs about hot dog water. They had it all. SPAZZ could take out Kayne in 50 seconds, ya know? Times were simpler then. Josh Wink was putting out insane records. Metallica turned into U2 for a bit (..what?), skateboarders wore huge pants and skated on stupid tiny wheels, personal identity politics tore things up all over place, hardcore kids started working out and praising Jesus, we mail ordered things from photocopied zines, Puff Daddy became a thing, and SPAZZ saw through it all. SPAZZ. 90's commentary. Literally. Lyrics: Designer drugs, Fashion victims, Fucked up music ,Fucked up minds, You are dead Waste your time, In trendy clubs, Waste your mind, On trendy drugs, Worthless body, Takes up space, We'll do without you Try to bite our culture, Just here for the trend If you want to step to O.A.K., Be prepared cuz we'll take no shit, If we see you on the fuckin' street, Your ass will get bent Trip out on this, the feeling of my fist, in your face, End the rave!
Props to itlooksdelicious youtube channel for the compilation duties. You have been recognized. SPAZZ is lit!

In 2018 fewer and fewer people will know who Bizzy B and Brain Records are. Even fewer people will begin conversations with ".. Fuck on the Beach? When is the remix album coming out??" Google "fuck on the beach". porn links. Nothing about the band per se. Conspiracy, or marketing genius? Regardless, Fuck on the Beach (Tokyo, Japan) are seemingly, still alive in some sort of incarnation. I rejoice in guttural screams. Fuck on the Beach were / are great. I still approve.
